Arsenal Transfer News: Latest Moussa Sissoko and Alexis Sanchez Rumours
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has described Moussa Sissoko as "remarkable" amid consistent rumours that the Newcastle United man could be set for a switch to the Emirates.
Speaking ahead of France's Euro 2016 final against Portugal, Wenger had high praise for Sissoko, 26, and his knockout-stage performances for Les Bleus, per the Evening Standard's James Benge.
"It is true that Sissoko has been remarkable," the Gunners boss said. "One could have asked the question before the [Germany] game: does [N’Golo] Kante come into the eleven? Didier has opted for stability since the team had won convincingly, and he had reason to do so with [Samuel] Umtiti and Sissoko."

Sissoko recently gave an interview in which he issued a transparent come-and-get-me plea to Arsenal, saying he wanted to move on from Newcastle now that they had dropped to the Championship, per Foot Mercato (h/t the Press Association via the Guardian):
"Arsenal is one of the best European clubs. Be followed by this kind of club, it’s good to know. I hope I will have a chance soon to play for this club or a similar club.
I think few people would refuse to play for this club. The beautiful Arsenal. We’ll see. I cannot tell you that I will go to Arsenal. For now, I’m focused on France and Euro 2016.
I have advisers who manage all this and I hope everything will go well with minimal difficulty for me to find another club.
"
Per Simon Bird in the Mirror, Arsenal were linked with a move worth "up to £10 million" for Sissoko earlier in the summer.
However, "Wenger is not believed to be targeting further midfield reinforcements" in the transfer window after already adding Granit Xhaka from Borussia Monchengladbach, per Benge.
Sissoko has done himself no harm at Euro 2016 and was again excellent in the first half of France's final clash against Portugal on Sunday, per Squawka:
Football writer Rich Laverty speculated that the former Toulouse man may be playing for a move:
He could be an asset for Arsenal, providing physicality they currently lack in midfield, while he is versatile enough to play anywhere across a midfield three.
It will all depend on whether Wenger wants to add further depth to his engine room, but it certainly seems he is impressed with his fellow Frenchman.
Meanwhile, Juventus have confirmed that Arsenal have no intention of selling Alexis Sanchez this summer.

According to the Old Lady's sporting director, Giuseppe Marotta, Juve met Arsenal's valuation for the 27-year-old former Barcelona man but were rebuffed, per Chilean newspaper El Mercurio (via the Mirror's Darren Lewis): "Sanchez is a great player, but Arsenal do not want to give him up. We informed the Gunners, who asked for £34 million—surely a reasonable fee. However, when we responded to this request, Arsenal told us they will not sell the player."
It never seemed likely that Arsenal would be willing to sell Sanchez, particularly not for £34 million—only a little over the fee they paid Barca for him two years ago.
He has just become a Copa America winner for the second time in as many years and remains one of the Premier League's most exciting stars and Arsenal's most potent attacking threat.
