Manchester United Transfer News: Latest on Paul Pogba and Memphis Depay Rumours
Manchester United have reportedly agreed a deal with Juventus star Paul Pogba ahead of a €120 million (£100 million) bid—an offer Real Madrid aren't prepared to match.
According to Guillem Balague for AS, United will also pay his agent, Mino Raiola, €25 million (£21 million) and the midfielder will earn €13.5 million a year (£11.5 million), figures Los Blancos believe are "insane."
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 live (h/t the Mirror's Liam Corless), Balague added: "Real Madrid have basically said: 'no way we're going to pay that' and they've abandoned the auction. So I think he's Manchester United-bound. Did he want to go to Manchester United and Old Trafford and play in the Europa League? I don't know, I don't think so."

However, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport's Mirko Graziano (adapted by Marco Credentino for Gazzetta World), Madrid could still enter the race as manager Zinedine Zidane has "asked his directors to match United’s offer" for his compatriot.
The Frenchman enjoyed a fine campaign, helping Juventus win their fifth successive Serie A title—they've won it every year since he joined from United in 2012—and the Coppa Italia.
He notched 10 goals and 16 assists in all competitions, and Squawka supplied his impressive league numbers:

Nevertheless, football writer Tom McDermott agrees with Real that the reported figures are too high—even for a player of Pogba's calibre:
Indeed, as excellent as the 23-year-old is, he's still not quite the complete package.
On occasion, he seems to be trying to produce a highlight-reel moment of magic—which he's more than capable of—instead of dictating the play and controlling the centre of the park for his side.
Further, for the amount of money United would be investing, wanting more from him than he's producing would be fair.
That said, Balague added the Red Devils "bring in approximately €200 million (£170 million) annually, without even counting the extraordinarily large contracts with Adidas and Chevrolet, as well as the recent increase in TV rights."
Given Pogba still has youth and time on his side to improve even further as he gets older, if United can afford to buy him, doing so would probably be worth it in the long run if he helps fire them back to success on the pitch.

Meanwhile, according to Calciomercato.com, United boss Jose Mourinho wants to sell Memphis Depay, and Tuttosport (h/t Goal) has reported the forward is a target for Juventus.
The Dutchman struggled to make an impact at Old Trafford last season after arriving with a reputation for goals and attacking flair.
Football writer Liam Canning would like to see him remain at United for another year, however:
Indeed, the 22-year-old still has plenty of room to grow, and a dour season under Louis van Gaal was hardly an easy environment to debut in—though Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford managed admirably, it must be said.
Memphis deserves another campaign to prove himself before the club cuts its losses on him.
