Fan Charges Field in the Middle of Play During Mariners vs. Cardinals Game

Well, this was a bold move.

A fan ran onto Safeco Field during the fifth inning of the Seattle Mariners' game against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals on Saturday night.

Unfortunately, that's not the bold part.

What set this fan-on-field incident apart from so many others was the time of its occurrence—in the middle of a play. Quite literally, this happened when a fly ball was in the air.

The patriotic fan was quickly apprehended by security:

Kudos to Mariners left fielder Seth Smith for making the catch, by the way. Seattle won 5-4.
