ESPN FC's Tim Vickery believes the first goal will set the tone for the match and ultimately decide the winner between two very familiar foes. It's a reasonable assumption considering whichever team is forced into chasing the game will inevitably be vulnerable to being caught on the break by the marquee attackers littering the pitch.

A bigger factor might be the players who could miss out for both sides. In particular, there may be several key absences in midfield.
For Argentina, that could mean no Angel Di Maria. The mercurial creator has missed much of the tournament after picking up an injury in his country's second group match.
Now the Paris Saint-Germain star is a major doubt for the final after missing training, according to Goal. Without Di Maria, Argentina will have to rely on Ever Banega for some verve in the final third.
The 27-year-old playmaker's connection with attacking talisman Messi has been applauded by Nick Dorrington of beIN Sports: "Banega is a master of small spaces and can be trusted to receive under pressure and manipulate an angle for an onward pass. In comparison to Pastore, he is more steady in his movements, providing a reliable link-point for Messi to manoeuvre around when he drifts infield."
Similarly, Chile will need Arturo Vidal to dovetail well with Sanchez in forward areas. It's not a partnership that always clicks, but Vidal's well-timed late runs into the box, along with Sanchez's perceptive movement, can cause problems for any defence.
The defending champions will need their big-name pair to deliver if key holding player Marcelo Diaz, who sat out the semi-final, per Sports Illustrated's Avi Creditor, again misses out.

There were no goals last year, but a repeat seems unlikely between two sides who've scored regularly in this edition of the tournament. Argentina have the motivation and the talent to go one better than 2015.
Prediction: Argentina 3-1 Chile
