Andrew Luck Comments on Play in 2015 Season
Last season was the first time in his young career that Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck experienced a difficult year. The 26-year-old appeared in just seven games because of injuries, but his time on the field didn't go as planned.
Luck told ESPN (via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk) that he wasn't satisfied with his play last season: "Injuries aside, I was not playing very good football—before they [the injuries] happened. I’ve got to be better. Toward my last couple games I felt like I was playing much better, trending in the right direction."
Luck was battling the injury bug from the start of the 2015 season. He missed Weeks 4 and 5 because of a shoulder issue, though he managed to come back in Week 6 and started four straight games before he suffered a season-ending lacerated kidney against the Denver Broncos in Week 9.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The Colts limped to an 8-8 finish with Matt Hasselbeck, Charlie Whitehurst, Josh Freeman and Ryan Lindley all appearing under center. But the team had a better record with those four quarterbacks at 6-3 than it did with Luck, who was just 2-5.
While Luck's year was significantly shortened, his numbers were far from his normal standards:
| 11-5 | Average Record | 2-5 |
| 58.5 | Completion Percentage | 55.3 |
| 28.6 | Average Touchdowns Per Season | 15 |
| 14.3 | Average Interceptions Per Season | 12 |
| 86.7 | Average Quarterback Rating | 74.9 |
According to the Indianapolis Star's Zak Keefer, Luck has been working out again after Colts owner and CEO Jim Irsay told WTTV's Mike Chappell in February (via Chris Wesseling of NFL.com) that the franchise quarterback was ready to go.
He also has the backing of the organization moving forward, and with unrestricted free agency looming in 2017, Luck apparently doesn't have to worry about his contract, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport:
Knowing the team wants to get a deal done soon should allow Luck to settle back into his role as the leading man in Indianapolis and put all of his attention on getting the Colts back to the top of the AFC South and into the postseason again.
