Arsenal Transfer News: Juventus in Alexis Sanchez Chase, Douglas Santos Rumours

Juventus are reportedly ready to make their move to sign Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez as a replacement for Alvaro Morata. Meanwhile, the Gunners are understood to be chasing Brazilian left-back Douglas Santos.

According to Italian newspaper Tuttosport, Sanchez is seen as a potential successor to Morata, who was recently brought back to former club Real Madrid in a €30 million (£24 million) deal (h/t the Sun's Andrew Richardson).

The Bianconeri are said to have already bid £23 million for Marseille striker Michy Batshuayi, with the Belgian seen as a cheaper alternative to the likes of Everton's Romelu Lukaku or Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.

Sanchez is currently away on international duty with Chile at the 2016 Copa America Centenario and has helped guide his country to Sunday's final opposite Argentina, as shown by Dream Team FC:

Juve also stand to free up ample funds if they decide to sell Simone Zaza, who has been subject to a £21m bid from Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg, which could let them launch a bid for Sanchez.

Chile dismissed Colombia 2-0 in their semi-final outing to reach the Copa America decider, after which Arsenal team-mate and Colombia goalkeeper David Ospina praised the winger, per ESPN FC's Tom Marshall.

Ospina said: "He's not just a great player, he's an excellent person. He's showing what he is made of [at the Copa America] with his movement, competitiveness and use of the ball. I'm happy for him."

ESPN FC's Jake Cohen outlined just how long Sanchez has been impressing for his country, but now 27 years of age, the South American superstar is near his peak and netted 17 goals last season:

Sanchez has previously enjoyed success in Serie A, scoring 21 goals in 112 appearances for Udinese before moving to Barcelona 2011, and Arsenal could face a fight to stop him from reigniting his silverware hunt at Juve.

Elsewhere, the Mirror's Aaron Flanagan cited reports from Brazil, which claimed the north Londoners are in for Atletico Mineiro left-back Santos, whom South American journalist Paulo Freitas has described as one of Brazil's most promising prospects:

The defender would allegedly be available for £7.7m, and a work permit wouldn't be a concern considering the player made his senior Brazil debut earlier in 2016 and has previously spent stints with Granada and Udinese.

David F. Sanchidrian of Spanish newspaper AS recently reported Barcelona and Valencia are each interested in making a move for the 22-year-old, but Arsenal may yet upgrade their full-back options with a move for the youngster.
