WWE Rumors: Examining Latest Buzz Around Kurt Angle, Paige and More
WWE's roster promises to look vastly different after the draft in July, but will a flood of familiar faces include Kurt Angle? The TNA Hall of Famer and former WWE champ is among the biggest names floating around in reports and discussions of the upcoming brand split.
The latest batch of rumors shed light on how the company plans to have enough talent to fill both Raw and SmackDown.
Elsewhere, a story about Paige is making its way around the internet that features spotty details. Something happened in Las Vegas the night of the Money in the Bank pay-per-view, but it's not clear what.

In other stories, it's reported that Becky Lynch was originally supposed to tell a different tale on Sunday's PPV and Alberto Del Rio left that event in need of medical attention.
Paige's Reported Incident
Although it looked like Paige got into trouble with the law on Sunday night, WWE sure hasn't treated her like she has.
According to Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, Paige was taken to the hospital in Las Vegas after being detained by police. Satin later added in an update, "Sources with direct knowledge tell us no charges were filed against Paige and WWE is currently investigating the matter to see if any disciplinary action will be necessary."
In situations like these, WWE normally holds a talent off TV. Instead, Paige wrestled Charlotte for the Women's Championship on Monday's Raw.
Paige's mother Saraya Knight tweeted that the rumor making the rounds wasn't true:
But she also said she didn't know anything about the photos of Paige accompanying the report:
WWE was up front about Jerry Lawler and Adam Rose's recent arrests. As of this writing, the company has yet to confirm the reports on Paige's reported run-in with police.
Perhaps this is just some misunderstanding that WWE doesn't think is significant. Otherwise, Paige wouldn't have been in the spotlight on Monday night.
Money in the Bank Heel Turn
We may have seen The Irish Lass Kicker become the villain rather than the victim at Money in the Bank.
After her tag team match with Natalya at Sunday's PPV, Lynch found herself under attack by her own partner. According to PWInsider Elite (h/t Marc Middleton of Wrestling Inc), WWE originally planned to have Lynch turn heel rather than Natalya. There has been no word on the mindset for the reported change in plans.
Going with Natalya as the turncoat was the better move. Lynch is a natural babyface, and has been connecting with fans in a strong way since her feud with Charlotte began.
Natalya, on the other hand, needs a new direction. She has played a heel in the past and done well. Plus, with Sasha Banks ready to rise up the ranks as a fan favorite, shifting Natalya's alignment helps balance out the division.
Del Rio Update
The Money in the Bank ladder match is so dangerous and unpredictable that it is bound to leave someone hurt. It looks as if Del Rio proved that true at Sunday's PPV.
Both he and Cesaro fell off a ladder and crashed into the ring ropes near the end of the bout. That spot ended with Del Rio in need of medical attention.
PWInsider's Mike Johnson reported, "Alberto Del Rio went to the hospital last night to get his knee examined." Johnson added that Del Rio traveled to Phoenix for Monday's Raw. However, Mexico's Greatest Export didn't compete on the show.

WWE hasn't reported on the injury as of this writing.
Del Rio isn't in any storylines at the moment, so WWE can afford to lighten his workload if it chooses to. In a perfect world, each wrestler that went through the gauntlet that is the annual ladder match would have had at least one night off afterward.
Seeking Roster Depth
When Raw and SmackDown both draft separate rosters on July 19, fans may see a number of WWE alumni return.
Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc) that WWE has contacted Montel Vontavious Porter, Stevie Richards and Carlito about returning to the company.
Meltzer also tweeted that the company has been in contact with older stars:
One of those wrestlers appears to be Angle. The 1996 Olympian appeared on Mark Madden's radio show in Pittsburgh on Monday. When asked about coming back to WWE, Angle said, "Will I return? Yes, I don't know when."
Angle is a free agent after spending the last decade with TNA.
He is far from his prime, but a farewell tour with the mat master has massive potential. One logical move would be to pair him up with NXT's Chad Gable and Jason Jordan, who remind many of Angle's old allies The World's Greatest Tag Team.
With WWE touting the New Era and looking to showcase emerging stars and recent NXT call-ups, it will be intriguing how it handles balancing that with bringing back guys like Angle.
At the very least, WWE programming should boast a strong supply of talent. Juggling everyone involved and not leaning too much on nostalgia will be key to making the New Era a success.
