As Sunday's WWE Money in the Bank 2016 pay-per-view approaches, the inevitable focus is the show's marquee ladder match—but there is plenty elsewhere to get excited about, too.
A show that often provides thrills for WWE fans is shaping up to potentially push the 2011 edition as the best in its history.
The New Era WWE is in full swing, meaning there are some fascinating matches on the card, and with more set to come, the hype continues to grow.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Here's a breakdown of the show's three biggest matches and what we can expect from them.
AJ Styles vs. John Cena
AJ Styles' shocking heel turn late last month set up a dream match many thought they'd never see. With this rivalry likely to run a few months, it's difficult to know what to expect here.
Will WWE keep it simple and have one man score an early victory without controversy? It's possible when you factor in the star power both men possess, but the smarter option here is keeping things controversial.
Pushing Styles as a top heel will be a job done even more effectively if the other members of The Club are alongside him at every turn.
So expect Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson to make their presences felt here, perhaps after they've just won the WWE Tag Team Championships earlier in the night.
Money in the Bank has produced some of Cena's best moments in a WWE ring—most notably the mat classic with CM Punk to close the 2011 show. Hopes will be high again here that, with Styles still excelling in the ring, The Phenomenal One can bring the best out of Cena like Punk did five years ago.
The result has to be booked in a way that keeps the feud going beyond Money in the Bank—so a controversial win for Styles, followed by a win in return for Cena at Battleground, can set things up for a decider at SummerSlam.
Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins
After Dean Ambrose's previous WWE World Heavyweight Championship matches with his two former stablemates from The Shield, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins will collide with the company's biggest prize at stake.
It is difficult to know where WWE is going with this match—and the rivalry in general. There's the potential for a double turn, but with some suspicious booking of Rollins lately, those chances appear to be narrowing.
Rollins' apparent insistence to stay away from any confrontation with Reigns has made the rivalry far from one of WWE's most explosive heading into Money in the Bank—but the go-home edition of Raw could change that.
That could be the scene for Rollins to attack Reigns from nowhere and close the show on top, making it look likely he can beat a guy who, for the last couple of months, has been practically untouchable in terms of wins and losses.
Like Styles vs. Cena, it's a feud that will probably continue to SummerSlam.
But here, the options at WWE's disposal suggest this could be the most unpredictable part of the night.
2016 Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Money in the Bank may not close with its traditional ladder match, but it is the bout that is attracting the most attention.
It's arguably the most exciting Money in the Bank match in history because each of the guys involved looks to have a genuine case for winning the match.
The favorites appear to be Kevin Owens and Dean Ambrose. Success for Ambrose would open up the possibility of all three members of The Shield meeting later in the year—perhaps on a major stage like SummerSlam.
But the work Owens has put in since coming to the main roster makes him a genuine threat to the rest of the field. Having KO as a world champion would satisfy many WWE fans, and should he win Sunday, it'll be an exciting few months watching and waiting for Owens to make his move.
"Still going with my main man, Dean Ambrose to win the MITB this year. Think he really needs it or he's going to just continue spiraling.

And with such star power in the match, the action is guaranteed to be electrifying no matter who wins. Expect Sami Zayn to bring a huge performance to the table in an environment that will suit his fearless attitude, with Cesaro also capable of some huge spots.
Previous MITB matches have been too easy to call. This one is perhaps the toughest in history.
