Manchester United Transfer News: Alvaro Morata Reunion Wanted by Jose Mourinho
New Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly "targeting a reunion with his former Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata" this summer as he looks to rebuild the squad at Old Trafford.
According to Marca, Mourinho is eager to sign Arsenal and Chelsea target Morata, 23, for United "to add younger blood to his front line" with 34-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic also set to be an attacking addition at Old Trafford this summer.
The Juventus forward will not come cheap, though, with Real looking to sell him on for €60 million (£46.9 million) after activating their €32 million (£25 million) buy-back clause on the Spaniard ahead of the July 15 deadline, per Marca.

Morata was given his first senior opportunities at Real when Mourinho was in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium before departing the Madrid club the year after the Portuguese manager did.
He has previously said he will "be grateful to [Mourinho] for the rest of my life" and a reunion for the pair could seemingly be on the cards with United in "urgent" need of a new striker after returning only 49 Premier League goals last season, per Samuel Luckhurst in the Manchester Evening News.
It will not be an easy purchase for Mourinho and United to pull off. Not only is Morata set to cost a lot, but he is also heavily sought-after by some of Europe's biggest clubs—Bleacher Report's Sam Tighe recently assessed the best destinations for him:
Morata has not earned his reputation as one of the top attacking prospects in Europe through prolific goalscoring—he has netted just 15 Serie A goals for Juve in 63 appearances over the past two seasons, per WhoScored.com.
However, he has shown himself to be a prodigious talent by consistently stepping up on the biggest stages.
In Juve's 2014-15 UEFA Champions League campaign—in which they eventually lost in the final to Barcelona—he scored five goals in the knockout stages, including one in both legs against former club Real in the semi-finals.
Against Bayern Munich in Juve's last-16 second leg in the 2015-16 tournament, Morata was fantastic—despite the Italians losing after extra time—and set up a Juan Cuadrado goal by blitzing the German champions' defence, per BT Sport Football:
He has brilliant power and pace and, while Ibrahimovic could be the man at United to provide goals in the short term, Morata could be an excellent long-term buy to play in the Old Trafford front line with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial for years to come.
The fact that he and Mourinho already have a good relationship could give United the edge in what is likely to be a hard-fought battle for Morata's signature this summer.
Equally, United have the funds to meet Real's likely asking price and have shown in the past two summers they are not afraid to spend big.
