Stephen Curry Comments on Home-Court Advantage for Game 7 vs. Thunder

Matt FitzgeraldMay 30, 2016

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry isn't taking Monday's Game 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder lightly despite his team winning the past two contests and holding home court at Oracle Arena.

Ethan Sherwood Strauss of ESPN.com shared what Curry had to say prior to tipoff of the decisive Western Conference Finals showdown:

"

Just because we're showing up at Oracle tonight doesn't mean we're guaranteed a win. We have to play with that same kind of force and allow the whole kind of atmosphere to take over.

[...] It didn't pan out how we wanted it going into this series. We're taking a different journey, but at the end of the day we have 48 minutes to claw ourselves out of the grave and advance. What more could ask for? It's going to be a fun night.

Curry poured in 31 points in Game 6's 108-101 road victory and had as many points in Game 5 to help Golden State get up off the mat. Now the Warriors have the opportunity to become the 10th team in NBA history to overcome a 3-1 playoff deficit.

"You can smile and enjoy what we accomplished, but we're not celebrating anything grand beyond that," Curry said of winning Game 6, per Strauss.

For a squad that won a record 73 games in the regular season after claiming last year's championship, being blitzed by the Thunder for three losses in four games was rather shocking. As the greatest teams often do, though, the Warriors responded to the adversity and have all the momentum entering Game 7.

Although he hasn't been quite as proficient offensively as he was en route to his second straight league MVP award, Curry has done enough to help the Dubs get this far.

Per NBA.com, his 25 three-pointers in the current series are three away from the all-time record for a seven-game set. Klay Thompson has totaled 24 in the series after draining 11 treys in Game 6, so both Splash Brothers could eclipse the mark by Game 7's end.

It seems as though Curry isn't counting on his team to coast to a win Monday, but he did acknowledge how much of a lift the home fans can provide. There's plenty of reason to be confident considering Golden State lost only twice at Oracle Arena during the regular season.
