Why Big Cass's Solo Potential Is Too Much for WWE to Ignore
Big Colin Cassady is a solo Superstar right now, as Enzo Amore is still out recovering from injuries sustained at Payback. While fans surely didn't expect Cass to sit home on his couch while Enzo's been out, they also surely didn't expect that he would be getting the kind of spotlight he's received on TV lately.
But crowds have been very supportive of him, as fans everywhere are embracing him as one of their own. For a guy that's supposed to be a tag team wrestler, Cassady is getting over quite nicely on his own.
If fans see that, then WWE most certainly does as well.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
This is not what fans expected when Cass and Enzo debuted on the main roster. These two were supposed to be the next great tag team—the second coming of The New Age Outlaws. They were funny, they were quick-witted and, most importantly, they were entertaining.
The only problem? The New Day had cornered the market on entertaining tag teams in WWE.
But Cass and Enzo's pop was immense, and all fans could see was a legendary duo-in-the-making. Enzo's comedic skills, combined with Cassady's intensity, made for a very unique mix. Any doubts fans may have had about their transition from NXT were doused quickly; they were over instantly.
So when Enzo went down at Payback, those same fans were not only shocked, but also likely very disappointed.
However the show must go on, and Big Cass has been on TV since Enzo's injury. Now that he's making his mark as a solo talent, it's obvious he is fully capable of making a run. Fans may not like this due to Enzo's absence, but the fact is Colin has the "it" factor.
WWE needs a lot more of "it."
The New Era is the theme WWE is pushing right now—and with good reason. The future is now when it comes to fresh talents, as guys like Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens are making a real impact in the company.
If ever there were a time for a star to break out, it's definitely now.
Colin's upside is tremendous. Seven-foot Superstars are such a WWE attraction and have always been. From Andre the Giant to The Undertaker to Bray Wyatt's family, the big guys have been great attractions for years.
Big Cass fits that category, as the potential is there for him to become a massive star.
But it's not just his size that's important; it's his ability in the ring. He's young and quick, he can bounce up off the mat in good time and he can keep pace with guys smaller than him. He doesn't appear to get winded, and he is in great physical shape.
He is the prototype for what WWE usually looks for, and he has all the tools to succeed. He's crazy entertaining next to Enzo, but he could be huge on his own. WWE Creative has surely discussed that fact at some point.
Timing is everything of course, and that is especially true here. If the Roman Reigns drama has taught WWE anything, it's that talent people should not be elevated before their time. It must be done the right way; it has to happen very organically, and it must feel right from the very start.
The only question is can all of that be said about Colin right now?
There's no doubting he has a bright future because of his size and his ability as a big man. But splitting him up from Enzo right now may be setting him up for failure. Cass deserves the chance to work with his partner again, to develop naturally and to learn his craft over time.
However, WWE must also strike while the iron is hot.
If Cass continues to connect with the audience, and he keeps improving in the ring and maintains on the mic, then the temptation to promote him as a singles star will be overwhelming. The ability to know when to move is crucial, and that is certainly true here. Will common sense be bypassed for the quick fix?
Despite the influx of NXT talent, WWE still needs more main event stars. Colin Cassady can become one of those stars, and there is every possibility he will sooner rather than later.
