Steelers GM Addresses Brown's Contract

Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said during an appearance on PFT Live (via Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk) that he doesn't expect Brown to have any problem with his current deal:
"He does have two years left and we expect that to be honored without any issue. Again, Antonio’s a unique player. We understand that and he understands our policies. I don’t ever see that changing as long as we still have the mindset that it’s been good for the organization. Again we understand that he’s a special player and we’re glad we have him for two more years anyway.
"
Brown, who has reached the semifinals as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars, is set to make $6.25 million in 2016 and $8.7 million in 2017, per Spotrac.
Last April, per Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports, Brown skipped the Steelers' voluntary offseason workouts, and there was "a chance" he would hold out while hoping to secure a new deal.
Per ESPN.com's Jeremy Fowler, Brown said in July 2015 that "holdouts never go well" and "I make a lot of money. I pull up to camp in Rolls-Royces." The Steelers did rework his deal last year to give him an additional $2 million.
Brown's current deal, which has a total of $8.5 million guaranteed, ranks 15th among all wide receivers, per OverTheCap.com. He's certainly outperformed that deal, leading the NFL in receptions each of the last two years and setting a career high with 1,834 receiving yards in 2015.
The Steelers don't need to worry about their best wide receiver heading into 2016, especially as they already have to deal with Martavis Bryant being suspended for at least one season.
Brown is on the short list of best receivers in the NFL, and his rise has been crucial to the Steelers finishing in the top three in total offense each of the last two years. He's earned a new contract whenever the Steelers want to give him one, but it doesn't sound like either side is in a rush to get something done right now.
