NBA Playoffs 2016: Game Times, TV, Live Stream Coverage and Picks for Tuesday

Rob GoldbergMay 10, 2016

After a drama-filled set of games Monday night, NBA fans can relax a bit with just one matchup on Tuesday. Of course, the lone game should be a good one.

While the Cleveland Cavaliers have already punched their ticket to the Eastern Conference Finals, the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder will be the first teams to play in a Game 5 in this round. The two sides have battled to a 2-2 series split through four games, featuring some memorable finishes along the way. All of a sudden, a matchup that was supposed to be one-sided coming in has become arguably the most entertaining clash of the postseason so far.

Oklahoma City Thunder vs. San Antonio Spurs

Preview

After Game 1, it seemed this round would be a walk in the park for the Spurs. The squad that won 67 games this season dominated with a 32-point victory, sending a message that they were in fact the much better team in this series.

Even the next two games provided plenty of reason for San Antonio to be confident. Sure, the Thunder won Game 2 to give the Spurs just their second home loss of the season, but the one-point game ended with one of the craziest finishes you will ever see with a myriad of officiating mistakes. A bounce-back road win in Game 3 once again showed the No. 2 seed was in control.

However, everything changed in Game 4. Oklahoma City played well from start to finish and came through with a 111-97 victory to even the series 2-2. Kevin Durant scored 41 points in the victory while Steven Adams had a huge effort with 16 points and 11 rebounds down low.

The biggest difference came in the fourth quarter when the home team earned a 34-16 advantage.

Obviously, Spurs coach Gregg Popovich wasn't happy with the result, per Randy Renner of NBA.com:

You can assume San Antonio will come back with a better effort on Wednesday after the disappointing showing. The key will be defending Durant, who has been red hot over the last three games. Not only is he averaging 31.7 points in this stretch, he is shooting 56.5 percent from the field. The pressure will be on Kawhi Leonard to at least slow down the former MVP and keep him from taking over the game.

San Antonio had the best defense in the NBA this season and should be able to figure out how to contain both Durant and Russell Westbrook. Meanwhile, the Spurs have too many options to keep in check for too long. Leonard and LaMarcus Aldridge will be the go-to options offensively. But even if they struggle, Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, David West or others can pick up some of the slack on that end of the court.

Returning home will also make a major difference as the Spurs are 43-2 in the AT&T Center this year. As a matter of fact, any home court helps at this stage of a series, according to Dan Feldman of NBC Sports' ProBasketballTalk:

The Spurs are too good defensively, too deep offensively and too disciplined to have two bad showings in a row, even against a talented team like the Thunder. The No. 2 seed should be able to regain control of the series with a big Game 4 victory.

Prediction: Spurs 102, Thunder 94
