Arrest Made by Police in Relation to Jordan Parsons' Hit-and-Run Death

Matt FitzgeraldMay 7, 2016

On Saturday, police in Delray Beach, Florida, arrested a man connected to the May 1 hit-and-run that led to the death of MMA fighter Jordan Parsons.

ESPN.com's Brett Okamoto reported Dennis Wright, 28, is facing multiple charges after the Delray Beach Police Department brought him in on an anonymous tip, which marked the conclusion of a six-day investigation.

Parsons died Wednesday at the age of 25 because of injuries he suffered from the hit-and-run. He was slated to participate in May 14's Bellator MMA event, per Okamoto.

Police released a prepared statement after they recovered a damaged 2013 Range Rover Sport owned by Wright's mother, which was involved in Parsons' death.

"Wright made an effort to have the damaged Range Rover repaired at a local body shop, but the owner refused to do the work, so Wright rented a bay at a storage facility and hid the SUV," the statement said, per Okamoto.

The ESPN.com report also stated Wright was going between 100 and 120 mph when the accident occurred. According to police, he did not stop after striking Parsons. Witnesses saw Wright at a local bar before the hit-and-run.

Police said Wright's license has been suspended six times and that his criminal record features multiple arrests, including for DUI.
