LeBron James Comments on Potentially Facing Dwyane Wade in 2016 NBA Playoffs
LeBron James and Dwyane Wade are close friends who won two NBA championships as members of the Miami Heat, but they are on opposite sides now and just three wins away from meeting in the playoffs for the first time in their legendary careers.
As the Cleveland Cavaliers prepare for their postseason game against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday, James commented on the possibility of playing Wade in the Eastern Conference Finals, via USA Today's Jeff Zillgitt:
The partnership between James and Wade in Miami may not have produced the dynasty everyone, including that duo, predicted when they and Chris Bosh joined forces in 2010, but it was still an incredible four-year run.
The Heat's Big Three played in the NBA Finals each year they were together, though it was the Finals loss against San Antonio two years ago that spelled the end of James' time in South Beach.
In 27 career regular-season games between James and Wade, James holds a 15-12 edge, per Basketball-Reference.com. The Cavaliers had the Eastern Conference's best record during the regular season (57-25), but the Heat took two of their three matchups with Cleveland.
James left the Heat because of his connection to Ohio and the assumption the Cavaliers roster would provide better opportunities to win titles in the future. A cruel irony it would be if Wade and the Heat prevented him from getting another opportunity at a championship this summer.
