Shane McMahon Is the Right Choice to Become WWE's New On-Screen Boss
Shane McMahon has become a welcome breath of fresh air for WWE.
On February 22, the prodigal son made his return with one goal: to take control of Monday Night Raw. Vince McMahon accepted his son's challenge, deciding that to gain control Shane would have to defeat The Undertaker at WrestleMania 32.
Shane failed and acknowledged his loss in front of his own father. Nevertheless, Vince, in either a power move or a show of empathy, awarded Shane control.

Despite the illogical move, Shane McMahon acquired the chance to take over Raw with an iron fist. So far, under his watch there have been many positive results.
Just look at the fight card for WWE Payback. AJ Styles will take on Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. A tag team tournament to take on The New Day will conclude with The Vaudevillians taking on Enzo Amore and Big Cass. The team of Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson made their long-awaited WWE debut. Old and new rivalries gestated, and Superstars such as Cesaro have made quite an impression.
These events have occurred under Shane’s tenure and support him as the right choice for the foreseeable future as WWE’s on-screen boss. Here are a few reasons why that should happen.
Firstly, it opens up new dynamics. When The Authority was in charge, there was constant feuding, with the good guys mounting a comeback. Now the roles have been reversed.
This was apparent in Shane’s second week in charge. April 11 saw McMahon confronted by Kevin Owens, who demanded a rematch for the intercontinental title. McMahon took exception to that and put him in a No. 1 contender's match with Cesaro. Shortly after, Owens lost to Cesaro.
Another example is his interaction with The Miz on the April 21 taping of SmackDown. Shane came to the ring after hearing Miz’s demands. It didn’t go well for Miz at all, as he poked Shane a bit too much. Shane attacked The Miz and put an embarrassing beatdown on the current intercontinental champion.
Secondly, it almost feels like a clean slate. The only old rivalry renewed is an extended one between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens.
Every other major feud is fresh. For example, Chris Jericho and Dean Ambrose will square off for the first time on pay-per-view at Sunday's WWE Payback. This Sunday’s event also features the first bout between Styles and Reigns.
And let’s not forget how The Wyatt Family was most likely slated to take on The League of Nations before Bray Wyatt’s injury.
Finally, Shane's leadership doesn’t take away from the WWE Superstars establishing themselves. One of the main problems with The Authority is that it's a distraction. Granted, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are magnificent cutting promos, but they take away from the feuds of the younger guys.
A case in point was the buildup to WrestleMania 32. Triple H took center stage when he was WWE champion. He was always the talk of the town, even when he wasn’t there.
You won’t have that with Shane. His takeover of Raw should have been a water-cooler moment. Instead, it’s become an afterthought.
Shane McMahon portrays a strong character which doesn’t take away from the active roster. His presence has only strengthened it, making him the right figurehead to keep everything moving.
Everyone benefits from Shane's being the on-screen boss for WWE. All it takes is for WWE Creative to make the right decision and make him stay for the foreseeable future.
