Tyson Fury Taunts Anthony Joshua, Slams Eddie Hearn in Foul-Mouthed Twitter Rant
Tyson Fury unleashed an extraordinary Twitter attack on Anthony Joshua and his promoter, Eddie Hearn, on Monday, accusing the pair of robbing his belt and saying they "wouldn't last five minutes in my world."
The WBA and WBO heavyweight champion was stripped of the IBF title he won against Wladimir Klitschko last November for not facing the mandatory challenger, and Joshua went on to win the belt when he beat Charles Martin earlier this month.
In a seemingly unprompted outburst, Fury, 27, slammed Joshua as a "p---y" and suggested Hearn was responsible for him losing his IBF belt (warning: NSFW language):
Fury and Joshua have seemingly been on a collision course for some time with both English heavyweights still unbeaten in their careers and both now titleholders.
They have exchanged taunts regularly, and Fury rekindled the war of words with a doctored image of Joshua wearing a T-shirt with his face on it:
A unification fight between Joshua and the self-styled Gypsy King seems an inevitability, and Fury's trainer and uncle, Peter Fury, recently said the clash could be set for later this year, per the Mirror's Roshane Thomas.
Fury faces a rematch against Klitschko in July, and Joshua, 26, will make the first defence of his title against American Dominic Breazeale on June 25.
As part of Fury's rant, he insisted Joshua would receive only 20 per cent of the purse when the pair finally meet:
He also accused Matchroom Sport's Hearn of not being a "proper boxing man" and said that he and Joshua "both need a slap" (warning: NSFW language):
In response, Hearn refrained from any abuse of his own but added that he was excited to see Fury and Joshua meet in the ring:
It is a mouthwatering prospect, with 2012 Olympic gold medallist Joshua having won all 16 of his professional fights by knockout, including a second-round defeat of Martin last time out.
Fury faces a tough task in defending his titles against Klitschko, but he tactically outwitted the Ukrainian legend at the end of last year and could do it again at the Manchester Arena in July.
With the war of words continuing between Fury and Joshua, the appetite is already huge for them to settle their spat in the ring.
Assuming they both come through their upcoming fights unscathed, the clamour will surely become deafening, and boxing fans could get their wish before the year is out.
