Drivers to Watch
Matt Kenseth

What in the world is wrong with Kenseth?
It seems this question gets tossed around every week, and why not? Kenseth sits 18th in the standings when sorted by points and has just one top-10 finish to his name this year. Going into last weekend, he had at least posted three consecutive top-20 finishes but then careened to 36th place at Bristol.
The finishes don't make a ton of sense, though, not when one takes a gander at Kenseth's numbers. Fox Sports: NASCAR provided an in-depth look:
It only seems a matter of time before Kenseth translates the speeds to a strong finish.
Feel free to sprinkle in the fact Kenseth won at Richmond in last year's fall event at the track. If the speed meshes with the experience of last year, Kenseth might find himself in the checkered-flag conversation.
Kurt Busch

Kyle Busch is always a name to watch, but what about Kurt?
Kurt is on a roll as of late, albeit a quiet one. He's finished outside of the top 10 just twice this year, most recently coming in ninth in Texas two weeks ago and third in Bristol last weekend, scoffing in the face of a starting slot of 26th.
Busch was especially proud of the comeback bid in Bristol, as he noted on social media:
Rewind to this time last year, too—Busch led 291 of the 400 laps on the way to a dominant victory.
Impressive momentum, the type that gets headlines or not, always pairs well with recent prior victories at a track. So while the globe might focus on the other Busch on Sunday, it's Kurt who could steal the show at a track in which he's done so in the past.
Carl Edwards

Second in the standings sorted by points, nobody looks hotter than Edwards right now.
Edwards didn't just win last weekend in Bristol after leading 276 of the 500 laps, he won the pole, giving him two first-place starts in a row. For those keeping track, Edwards has now finished seventh or better in each of his last five outings.
Perhaps making Edwards more dangerous than anything, though, is the fact he now has an automatic bid in his grasp. Pressure to qualify for the Chase off, Edwards now sounds ready to have some fun, as captured by NBC Sports:
The full quote tells the whole story of how Edwards will approach Richmond and beyond, according to SiriusXM NASCAR Radio's The Morning Drive, via NBC Sports (h/t Yahoo Sports):
"Now we've got the win, we can really go for it. We can put out more effort and worry less about the consequences. We can take chances and try some things on the car and in the car with restarts (and) different lines. There's less consequences. You can let it hang out more, which is really a lot of fun.
"
Edwards is a monster on short tracks, as his recent tear boasts plainly enough. But take that ability and pair it with a carefree approach with the Chase assured, and the rest of the field has a problem on its hands.
