Staples Center Sells Record $1.2 Million of Kobe Bryant Merchandise in Last Game
Kobe Bryant wasn’t the only one racking up some shocking numbers Wednesday night.
During the Los Angeles Lakers star’s final game, the Staples Center sold $1.2 million worth of Bryant memorabilia, AEG vice president Sean Ryan told ESPN’s Darren Rovell.
That’s the one-day sales record for any arena in the world.
With some of those prices, it’s not surprising the final tally was so high.
There were hats going for north of $38,000 and others that cost over $24,000. There were jackets selling for close to $6,000 and jerseys that would run fans $824 a pop.
In total, there were 16 hats made. Per Rovell, just three of these bad boys went unsold:
Bryant certainly did what he could to give fans their money's worth, going for an astounding 60 points on 22-of-50 shooting and 6-of-21 from deep.
Historic moments like that can blur the line between needing and having something like a hat made of snake skin.
“It says that fans are really appreciative of this moment and wanted to maybe have something they can remember,” Bryant told Rovell.
