The New Day, Finn Balor and More from the Breakout Mailbag
WWE seemed to be on to something with The Wyatt Family before Bray Wyatt's latest injury, which WWE.com confirmed. Hopefully, the ailment isn't too serious because babyface Bray sounds like it could be fun. Just imagine the chants people will come up with.
Injury or not, The Wyatt Family has had an up-and-down road in its young WWE existence. So much so, it has become a template for other struggling WWE Superstars.
Taking a Paige out of the Women's Division?

The case of Paige seems far more severe than that of the Wyatts. At least with the Wyatts, WWE continues to make concerted efforts to keep the stable near the main event.
In each of his first three WrestleManias, Bray Wyatt has interacted with a bona fide Hall of Famer. First, it was John Cena, then The Undertaker and now The Rock. People can say what they want about him coming up on the losing end of each instance, but the more fans associate Wyatt with legends at WrestleMania, the easier it will be to present him as a main eventer. The only catch is he does have to win eventually.
Paige, on the other hand, has been relegated to the Total Divas division. This is great for mainstream exposure, but not so much for WWE programming. The storylines from Total Divas are often shoehorned onto television, and aside from the sloppy storytelling, they're all made to look unlikeable.
It's as if Natalya and Paige switched roles, with Natalya in a competitive feud for the WWE Women's Championship, while Paige is playing in the sand on E!
There is a silver lining, however, especially with Paige's talents as a performer. As evidenced by Natalya, it won't take much to elevate Paige back into the Women's Championship picture.
Finn to Stay Put?
It will probably be a while before Finn Balor heads to the main roster. Balor himself told me on the PodNasty Wrestling Podcast that he enjoys being in NXT and has no immediate desire to get called up. If that's true, he should be a very happy man for at least the next few months.
WWE has its fill of not only NXT call-ups, but new faces. Enzo and Cass, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, Baron Corbin, Sami Zayn and Apollo Crews have all entered the main roster over the past week. There's very little room for yet another debut.
Balor continues to have momentum in NXT, where he is now an even bigger fish in a suddenly smaller pond. Balor and Samoa Joe had a great match at NXT Takeover: Dallas, and while a third match could be even better, it may not have the emotional investment, with Samoa Joe losing twice in a row as a heel.
Guys like Bobby Roode, Austin Aries and even Shinsuke Nakamura would all make great opponents for Balor. Given how hot Nakamura is getting in a brief period of time, don't be surprised if he catches enough fire to take the title from Balor.
Question of the Week: New Day Balk?
"@ThisIsNasty who is more likely to be champ one day:

A. BIG E
B. Apollo Crews
C. Jason Jordan
?
Not that I'm holding my breath, but I'll put my money on Big E.
It boggles my mind how some fans are pushing for so many great white hopes in light of Roman Reigns' run on top. Go to any message board, and names like Sami Zayn, AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose will dominate discussion of who needs to upend Reigns' continuation of a Samoan dynasty.
But The New Day is the hottest thing going. Go to the WWE's online store. Look up the best-selling items. The New Day currently has three of the top 20 best-selling items on the entire site. No other active WWE Superstar can make that claim. Not John Cena (two of the top 20), not Reigns (one of the top 20) and not Owens (zero).
It's easy to suggest that The New Day is good as a group, and nobody wants to see it broken up. But once upon a time, The Shield was in that very same position. That group was WWE's hottest entity, and few people were in a hurry to see it split.
Still, fans were constantly fantasy booking The Shield's breakup and predicting which member would rise to superstardom. Now go find an article discussing The New Day in that light. For whatever reason, people seem to be more comfortable with these three in the midcard. Sticking together.
