Pacquiao vs. Bradley 3: Press Conference Takeaways After Pac-Man's Win
Manny Pacquiao insisted that he is now retired following his unanimous-decision victory over Timothy Bradley at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday. However, when pushed, he did leave the door open to a return.
Twice during the bout—in Round 7 and Round 9—Pacquiao dropped his American opponent to the canvas and looked fairly comfortable throughout, all three judges eventually calling the fight 116-110 in his favour, per HBO Boxing.
Pacquiao, 37, did not look like a fighter making his last exchanges in the ring as he outclassed his 32-year-old opponent.
But he was insistent after the clash that he is hanging up his gloves, although he hinted that he is still open to a return, per ESPN's Dan Rafael:
Saturday's fight was Pacquiao's first since he lost by unanimous decision to Floyd Mayweather last May.
He has since been recovering from surgery on his right shoulder, but he looked fluid against Bradley and said he felt in good shape during the clash, per Top Rank Boxing:
Pac-Man is no longer the explosive fighter he once was, and he has not stopped an opponent since he beat Miguel Cotto in 2009 to win the WBO welterweight title.
He said he was looking for the knockout on Saturday but simply could not land the killer blow on Bradley despite his dominance, per Rafael:
"I was looking for a knockout in every round. He's a very tough fighter and a very good counter-puncher. Bradley is a good boxer, a great fighter and a good man. It was not easy tonight, [but] my right shoulder was fine. It gave me no problems."

It was the third time the pair have met in the ring following their 2012 bout, which Bradley won by split decision in controversial fashion, and Pacquiao's 2014 unanimous-decision victory in the rematch.
Per Top Rank, Bradley insisted he will return the ring and indicated there is no shame in losing to a fighter of Pacquiao's stature:
Bradley had been on an upward trajectory of late following victories over Jessie Vargas and Brandon Rios, and he should still have plenty of options for his next opponent, with Pacquiao the only fighter ever to beat him in his professional career.
Desert Storm hailed the Filipino as the best he has ever faced and explained how he was beaten, per Top Rank: "Manny was luring me in. He would attack me in spots. He was the smarter man tonight. He's the best fighter I've ever faced. Manny was always in the right spots. I wasn't able to get him. When he made a mistake, he corrected really fast."
There were glimpses of the old Pacquiao against Bradley, and there will be many who believe that he is calling it a day prematurely.
At least for now, though, one of the all-time greats is retired following an impressive final showing in Las Vegas.
