Pacquiao vs. Bradley 3 Weigh-In: Results, Twitter Reaction for Pre-Fight Event

Alec NathanApr 8, 2016

Act 3 of the Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley saga will unfold Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, but the two prestigious fighters had to participate in Friday's weigh-in before the main event gets underway.

Pacquiao (57-6-2) and Bradley (33-1-1) had the 147-pound welterweight upper limit in their sights, and both fighters qualified in advance of the trilogy's final chapter, according to ESPN.com's Dan Rafael:

HBO Boxing on Twitter provided a look at the focused fighters as they both stepped onto the scale in front of a packed house:

Top Rank Boxing's official Twitter account captured the moment Pacquiao clocked in at 145.5 pounds:

And with Pacquiao entering Saturday's fight—which could be his final as a professional, per Rafael—on the heels of an 11-month layoff, the 37-year-old decided to take time to thank his supporters for showing up:

Of course, things wouldn't have been complete without a traditional stare down, as documented by Top Rank:

Once the weigh-in concluded, Bradley held court and asserted that he plans to cement his status as one of the sport's greats, per Yahoo Sports' Kevin Iole:

With Friday's proceedings complete, the focus will shift back to the storylines set to envelop Saturday's rubber match.

And the one that should draw the most attention is Pacquiao's return to the ring following nearly a year off. After undergoing surgery to repair a torn right rotator cuff that plagued him against Floyd Mayweather Jr. last May, Pacquiao has slowly and steadily worked his way back to full strength while calculating how he'll unleash his fury on Bradley.

"He’s doing a lot better than he thinks," trainer Freddie Roach said of Pacquiao's training, per Sports Illustrated's Greg Bishop. "The only problem we’re having is the sparring a little bit now. He’s loose with it. His sparring is one of those things that he never gives me 100 percent anyway. But the mitts are what I’ve always gauged him on. On the mitts he’s as good as I’ve ever seen him. He hits f---ing hard."

However, Bradley likely won't be fazed by Pacquiao's preparations.

The 32-year-old has enlisted the help of legendary trainer Teddy Atlas once again in advance of Saturday's clash, and he appears on a mission to prove he belongs in the ring with the southpaw after losing their last bout in April 2014 and capturing a divisive split-decision victory during their first matchup in 2012.

"Having Teddy is like having a cheat sheet, honestly," Bradley said, according to Iole. "Using his knowledge is like having a cheat sheet. He analyzes fights and sees weaknesses and habits in opponents and he broke it all down. I feel like I have a cheat sheet going into this fight."

Bradley's also riding a bit of momentum into the rubber match. With Atlas in his corner last November, Bradley defeated Brandon Rios by TKO in the ninth round of their welterweight title fight after slamming a powerful left hook into his opponent's body.

Replicating that outcome against Pacquiao—who's only been knocked out three times and last hit the canvas against Juan Manuel Marquez in 2012—will be difficult, but Bradley appears focused on avenging his 2014 defeat with a complete effort Saturday evening.
