Bogut Active vs. Thunder in Game 1

Monday, May 16

The Warriors announced Bogut will start in Game 1 of the Western Conference finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday.

Kerr Comments on Bogut's Playing Status

Friday, May 13

"Obviously, we're hoping he'll be all right," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said, per Leung. "In these next days, he'll treat it."

Bogut Provides Warriors with Necessary Interior Defender

Bogut had four points, four rebounds and three assists in nine minutes before exiting Game 5 against the Blazers.

While the Dubs won last year's NBA championship thanks largely to their small-ball approach, Bogut continues to play an important role as their go-to big man and primary rim protector.

The 7-footer's production was modest during the regular season (5.4 points, seven rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game), but his presence keeps opponents honest, and his ability to both set screens and distribute the ball makes him valuable.

One of the biggest knocks on Bogut over the course of his career has been his inability to stay healthy. His rookie season (2005-06) with the Milwaukee Bucks marked the only time he played all 82 games in a single campaign, and he has missed double-digit games in every season since 2007-08.

His most recent ailment was a rib injury he suffered in early April, and he missed one contest.

The Warriors have gotten by without him, and during last year's playoffs, they proved they can win without a true center.

In March, Bogut indicated his desire to remain with Golden State moving forward, according to NBA.com's Scott Howard-Cooper (h/t Kurt Helin of Pro Basketball Talk):

"

[W]e'll see what happens. We all hear the rumors of other guys coming through here, so if that kind of stuff happens [there'll] be some shedding of some contracts so who knows what can happen. But you'd be silly to try and leave what's going on right now. ... We'll have a few of us that will have opportunities. Obviously I'm contracted for next year, but at the same time if he they offer me an extension I'll definitely listen.

"

Having Bogut in the fold undoubtedly gives the Dubs more versatility.
