WWE Raw: Potential Spoilers, Rumors, News and Preview for April 4

Ryan DilbertApr 4, 2016

Roman Reigns will follow his WrestleMania coronation with a celebration in front of a hostile crowd on the April 4 edition of WWE Raw.

Reigns toppled Triple H in front of a restless, split audience at AT&T Stadium. On Monday night, he will carry his newly won crown into the American Airlines Center in Dallas, where many of the same fans promise to be waiting for him.

Raw's biggest story will be how WWE approaches the next chapter of this story. Will it dismiss the boos aimed at Reigns as just dissonance from a fringe section of the crowd? Or is Reigns' character set to evolve to take advantage of the jeers?

WrestleMania 32's biggest victories are sure to lead to Raw's other major narratives. Zack Ryder and Charlotte will both head into the show with gold in hand. Just who will be waiting to pounce on each champion?

John Cena's return and Brie Bella's potential swansong could be on tap as well. Backstage reports, a Raw preview on WWE.com and a look at the current arcs of WWE's stories provide insight into what to expect as the post-WrestleMania Raw hits the airwaves at 8 p.m. ET on the USA Network.

News, Potential Spoilers

Monday night could mark Brie's exit from the company.

According to Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, Brie "is hanging up her boots following the Raw after WrestleMania." Satin also noted, "She's just hoping to have one final blow-off match against Lana to cap off their feud."

On Sunday, she earned the decision for her team by clamping the Yes! Lock on Naomi. That may have been her last big moment. Otherwise, WWE may let her go out in style on Raw.

It may be time for Brock Lesnar to hibernate once more. In an interview with Dan Gelston of the Associated Press, Lesnar said, "Vince got his checkbook out and he's writing more checks. But I have a limit and we're at that limit right now."

If that's the case, count on WWE saving Lesnar for SummerSlam.

But the company may be trading one monster for another. Samoa Joe could be on his way from NXT.

Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Wrestling Inc) that he had heard Joe was set to lose the NXT title match against Finn Balor and then move to the main roster. Plans shifted around, but in the end, The Samoan Submission Machine did lose to the champ.

That certainly frees him up to exit NXT. And the Raw after WrestleMania has historically been a spot where WWE introduces new talent.

If Stardust shows up in Dallas, it could be with a new persona in tow. The Wrestling Observer's daily update on Saturday noted, "For whatever it's worth, Stardust made a comment about how if he didn't win the IC Title in the ladder match tomorrow we'd never see the character again."

The Prince of Dark Matter has made similar teases in the past that didn't lead to anything, though.

WrestleMania Fallout

On Sunday night, WWE did away with the Divas title, replacing it with the Women's Championship. Charlotte won that crown by outlasting Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch, but what's next for her?

Monday's Raw promises to hint at who will emerge from the women's division to face her next. The Raw preview on WWE.com hinted at exactly that. It asked, "Who's gonna step up to challenge her? And will that would-be No. 1 contender present herself tonight on Raw?"

Banks would seem the obvious choice, as she wasn't the one who submitted at WrestleMania. Instead, Ric Flair held her foot to prevent her from reentering the ring. That smells like the Charlotte vs. Banks story will continue.

Monday's Raw is also poised to feature John Cena, who returned to WWE at WrestleMania to take out The Wyatt Family.

Where will he fit into the current landscape? It's too early to head down the Cena-against-Reigns road. Perhaps Bray Wyatt and his clan strike back after being embarrassed on Sunday night.

For Dean Ambrose, Raw could well be a turning point for his character in the aftermath of his loss to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. The WWE.com preview reads, "Could the experience finally rein in the unhinged competitor? Or could it separate him even further from his senses?"

His rivalry with The Beast Incarnate is likely over. His loss probably means he's out of the WWE title picture for the time being.

Ambrose may be doing more soul searching than title chasing in the next few weeks.

Ryder will enter Raw with the Intercontinental Championship in hand. His upset win on Sunday has him holding his first title since 2011.

With a target now on his back, it may be Chris Jericho who first fires at him. The Raw preview reads, "There's a certain nine-time intercontinental champion who scored a huge win over AJ Styles at The Showcase of the Immortals, and he may be looking to add a 10th title reign."

Reigns' issues with The Authority promise to be the main focus of the night. Now that The Big Dog is the WWE world champion, and now that he's completed his quest to overcome The Authority, it's not clear what's next for him.

Many fans were expecting a heel turn at WrestleMania. Perhaps that comes on Raw, with Reigns denouncing the crowd for rejecting him.

The disconnect between him and the fans has to be addressed somehow. Otherwise, Raw will feature Reigns receiving an echoing backlash rather than the hero's welcome WWE wants for him.
