Blazers' Lillard and McCollum Reach 400 Combined 3-Pointers
Portland Trail Blazers guards Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum reached 400 combined three-pointers made for the season during Sunday's 136-111 loss to the Golden State Warriors, joining Warriors guards Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson as the only teammates to sink 400-plus treys in a single campaign, per the Trail Blazers PR Twitter account.
Curry and Thompson have accomplished the feat four years running, each time establishing a new NBA record for most combined three-pointers by a pair of teammates.
Incredibly, the Splash Brothers have already sunk 640 threes this season, putting them 237 ahead of Portland's prolific duo.
Lillard did his part in Sunday's game, making four of his nine three-point attempts, whereas McCollum only converted two of his six tries from beyond the arc.
On the other side of the contest, Thompson also made just two of his six three-point tries, but Curry more than made up for it by knocking down nine of his 13.
Though it once appeared the Blazers and Warriors might be headed for a first-round battle between the NBA's two best backcourts, Portland now seems likely to grab the No. 5 or No. 6 seed in the Western Conference, as opposed to the No. 8 seed that would lead to a matchup with the Warriors.
Regardless, it's more than likely these teams will meet in the playoffs within the next few seasons, as the Blazers have enough financial flexibility to build a solid team around their star guards.
