WWE WrestleMania 32 Matches: Bold Predictions for Massive Showcase

Graham GSM MatthewsApr 2, 2016

Say what you will about the buildup to WWE WrestleMania 32, but excitement is at an all-time high for the event—if only for what could come out of it. There are endless possibilities in regard to the night's marquee matches and their respective outcomes.

Everyone has their own opinion of what they want to see occur, but if previous installments have been any indication, the greatest moments are ones we can't see coming. WWE is capable of pulling out a few surprises on Sunday, and the current card is far from predictable.

WWE has touted WrestleMania 32 will be the biggest and best of all time, but in order for it to live up to the lofty hype, it will have to go out of its comfort zone and stray away from relying on its same, tired tropes for match finishes.

One day ahead of The Show of Shows, let's make some bold predictions for the pay-per-view.

Mr. McMahon Betrays Triple H

It has been evident to anyone who has been watching WWE TV regularly in recent months that Roman Reigns isn't cut out to be the next big babyface—or at least not right now. Fans aren't taking to him as well as officials would have hoped, which might mean they could change WrestleMania main event plans for the third straight year.

Regardless of whether it is as a heel or as a babyface, there is little doubt Reigns is walking out of Arlington, Texas, as the new world heavyweight champion. WWE could always keep the title on Triple H and wait for Seth Rollins to return to do that feud, but no timetable has yet been set in stone for The Architect.

Triple H retaining would be a surprise, but even that would make for an anticlimactic ending to WrestleMania (assuming it closes the show). There needs to be more to the match that will help bring everything together.

At WrestleMania 17, we saw Stone Cold Steve Austin do the unthinkable by aligning himself with his arch-nemesis Vince McMahon, and I expect we'll see something similar on Sunday with Reigns and McMahon.

Reigns joining The Authority would be a weird move considering he has spent the last two years feuding with it, but it's better than the alternative of pushing him as a top-tier babyface. It's also high time The Game goes back to being the babyface he portrays on NXT.

John Cena Wins the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

For the third consecutive year, the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal will be held at WrestleMania 32, though a majority of fans couldn't care less about the contest given who is (and isn't) involved.

It doesn't help matters that winning the "prestigious" trophy virtually means nothing. Look no further than Cesaro and Big Show, both of whom were back to their losing ways only months removed from winning the bout.

That said, the fact WWE moved the match from the pre-show to the main card has to be an indication it plans on doing something major with the matchup. Mark Henry is a well-deserving victor, but if that was the plan, then it would be better off on the pre-show.

Surprises should be planned for WrestleMania, and I imagine one of them will happen here in this match, and I'll go even further and say John Cena will take part and win the whole thing.

Cena confirmed in a recent interview, per ProWrestling.net, that he has since been cleared to compete. If WWE was desperate to get him back in action as soon as possible, this would be the perfect way to reintroduce him to the fold and give the match more meaning.

Sting Confronts The Undertaker

Fans are more excited for the Hell in a Cell match between The Undertaker and Shane McMahon than anything else on the card—and rightfully so given the future of WWE is at stake. WWE will be putting all its eggs in one basket with this bout, which should lead to plenty of outside interference.

The debuting Balor Club is a distinct possibility, but there's something about Sting returning and coming face-to-face with Undertaker inside the cell that is intriguing.

This is the most bold and unrealistic prediction in this piece, but it would explain why Sting has been hesitant to refer to himself as retired lately. He will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on Saturday, but that doesn't necessarily mean his in-ring days are officially over.

If WWE wanted to set up a match between them for a future event, the simple solution would be to have Sting help Taker win against Shane. That would ensure his career stays alive, and he can do battle with Sting at some point down the line.

Even if The Icon doesn't get physically involved, any sort of faceoff with Undertaker on the grand stage would immediately satisfy fans who have long wanted to see them interact. Again, Sting is the unlikeliest candidate to aid Undertaker at WrestleMania, but it would make for a sensational story.
