Michael Hoomanawanui Re-Signs with Saints: Latest Contract Details and Reaction
The New Orleans Saints and tight end Michael Hoomanawanui have agreed to a three-year contract, according to Alex Marvez of Fox Sports and Katherine Terrell of NOLA.com.
Financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed.
Hoomanawanui, 27, was acquired by the Saints last season in a trade with the New England Patriots. He appeared in 12 games, catching just 11 passes for just 76 yards and three touchdowns. But he established himself as an excellent H-back and as a solid blocker in both the run and pass games, offering the Saints a versatile weapon in a number of formations and roles.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
While Hoomanawanui didn't make anyone forget about Jimmy Graham, he paired nicely with Benjamin Watson, who had a career year for the Saints (74 receptions for 825 yards and six touchdowns). Watson remains a free agent, however.
Hoomanawanui's presence will allow another tight end—either Watson or a player the team adds in free agency or the draft—to be the bigger focus in the passing game.
Re-signing Hoomanawanui wasn't a sexy move for the Saints, but his ability to help the offense in multiple ways makes him a valuable asset going forward.
