WWE WrestleMania 32: Full Card Predictions After Fastlane

Ryan DilbertFeb 22, 2016

Fastlane didn't just decide WWE WrestleMania 32's main event; the pay-per-view teased at a number of other collisions for the biggest show of the year.

Dean Ambrose angered a beast who is certain to be hungry for vengeance. Fastlane saw Kevin Owens and Kalisto notch impressive wins, each victory a means to prep each champion for big showdowns come WrestleMania.

And both Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks continued their climb toward title contention.

The one guaranteed match on The Showcase of the Immortal is Roman Reigns vs. Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, thanks to the former outlasting Ambrose and Brock Lesnar on Sunday. The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal has become an annual tradition. Count on that continuing, and for WWE to stick the momentum-less Wyatt Family there.

As for what other bouts to expect at WrestleMania, a look at rumors, current story arcs and what WWE or wrestlers themselves have foreshadowed provides an early look at the event's card.

Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles (Intercontinental Championship)

1 of 7

Kevin Owens won a hotly contested battle with Dolph Ziggler at Fastlane to remain intercontinental champion. AJ Styles won his series with Chris Jericho when he forced Y2J to submit on Sunday.

Those results leave both men armed with momentum after wrapping up their feuds.

For Styles, it makes sense for him to move into the IC title picture. Jericho acted as his welcoming party and stepping stone. That had to be to build him up just in time for WrestleMania.

Going after the Intercontinental Championship is a logical way to have The Phenomenal One make his mark in his new home.

The champ has already hinted at a collision between him and Styles. Owens tweeted, "If AJ Styles ever comes anywhere near MY #ICTITLE, I'll take him out in less time than it took me to toss him out of the Rumble."

Stardust vs. Stephen Amell

2 of 7

While Stardust has become far from relevant on WWE programming of late, an old rivalry promises to net him a coveted WrestleMania spot.

He and actor Stephen Amell have been clashing online since last year. That led to a SummerSlam tag team match between the two. Amell looked excellent there, likely impressing WWE officials enough to bring him back.

Rumors point to their next match happening on WWE's biggest stage. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Wrestle Zone), one proposed WrestleMania match would pit Amell against Stardust in single action.

The fact that WWE filmed and broadcast a spat between the two men at Dallas Comic Con makes the clash look even more of a lock come April 3.

Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch (Divas Championship)

3 of 7

Before Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch teamed up at Fastlane, one expected WWE to highlight one of those two women more. If the bout turned into a showcase for Banks, for example, then it would signal that she would be challenging Charlotte at WrestleMania.

Instead, both women looked strong on Sunday night. Both women had their signature submission holds locked in as the match came to a close.

That makes it look like we are heading for a Triple Threat for the Divas Championship at WrestleMania.

Lynch hasn't stepped out of the title picture following her loss at the Royal Rumble. The fact that she remains key to this story, and WWE has focused on her nearly as much as Banks, suggests that she will be involved with the upcoming title match.

Banks not being a full-fledged babyface at this point hints at that outcome, too. Lynch's presence would allow WWE to not hurry Banks' transition, while also putting three of its top female wrestlers in the same ring.

The New Day vs. League of Nations vs. The Dudley Boyz vs. The Usos (Tag Titles)

4 of 7

The tag team division is being neglected, just as it was last year. The New Day aren't in the midst of a great rivalry. Instead, they are fresh off an ineffective showdown with The League of Nations at Fastlane.

There's not enough appeal to that matchup to warrant a WrestleMania spot.

WWE will instead cram several teams into the ring at the same time. That's been the trend for the past few years. At WrestleMania 31, WWE went with a four-team contest, a Fatal 4-Way at WrestleMania XXX and a Triple Threat at WrestleMania XXVIII.

Going this route again would allow the company to fit The League of Nations on the card, while also highlighting The Dudley Boyz and The Usos' brewing rivalry. Throw in some ladders and chairs, and the recent lack of focus on the tag team division will get covered up by high-impact stunts.

Undertaker vs. John Cena

5 of 7

WWE has to be crossing its fingers and praying to the wrestling gods that John Cena once again shows off his superhuman healing ability.

Cena vs. Undertaker at WrestleMania is a dream match. The possible bouts for The Deadman outside of that option don't have nearly the same appeal. WWE's non-Cena choices are minimal.

Finn Balor will still be at NXT during the build to WrestleMania. In fact, he's defending the NXT title just two nights before The Show of Shows. Kevin Owens will likely be busy elsewhere thanks to being intercontinental champ.

And while Cena is still recovering from shoulder surgery, he has a history of making it back to the ring before doctors expect him to. His mindset appears to be on doing that once more. Cena tweeted, "Putting in 12 hours a day for the past 6 weeks to try and defy science."

If he does, WWE's choice for Undertaker's latest battle is a no-brainer. Otherwise, the company is going to have to get awfully creative to put together a match that feels special enough for The Deadman.

Kalisto vs. Chris Jericho (United States Championship)

6 of 7

Kalisto and Chris Jericho don't have any history between them. It's not an obvious combination of foes, but it makes sense to have them lock horns at WrestleMania.

The King of Flight kept hold of the United States Championship by defeating Alberto Del Rio at Fastlane. That put an end to their rivalry, leaving the high-flyer free to move on to someone else.

As for Jericho, he is increasingly moving toward full-blown heeldom. During his short feud with AJ Styles, he has shown flashes of returning to villainy. He has begun to be callous during his promos and more testy overall.

Losing to Styles at Fastlane could easily set him over the edge. Once he's a heel once more, he becomes a good fit as Kalisto's next challenger.

The action promises to be outstanding, much like Jericho's past work against Rey Mysterio. For Kalisto, both he and the U.S. title will get a boost from facing off against a star of Jericho's caliber.

Dean Ambrose vs. Brock Lesnar

7 of 7

The Wyatt Family not making its presence felt at Fastlane dispelled any ideas of Bray Wyatt facing Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. The same goes for Wyatt's crew falling to Ryback, Big Show and Kane at Fastlane.

That all points to The Wyatt Family losing steam.

Meanwhile, Dean Ambose has been electric opposite Lesnar during the build to Fastlane. Their chemistry begs for WWE to pit them against each other.

The Beast Incarnate has plenty of motivation to take that match. Ambrose clobbered him with chair shots and rocked him with a low blow. An angry beast is certain to emerge with its eyes on Ambrose.

That's the collision that the company reportedly has in mind. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio (h/t Wrestling Inc) that WWE plans to pit Lesnar against Ambrose face at WrestleMania 32.

The bout is a potential classic in the vein of CM Punk vs. Lesnar from SummerSlam 2013. It would mark the continuation of a narrative with momentum rather than start something from scratch for either wrestler. Choosing this contest is one of the more obvious decisions WWE will face ahead of WrestleMania.
