WWE SmackDown Spoilers: Complete Results and Analysis for February 11

Erik BeastonFeb 10, 2016

Chris Jericho vs. AJ Styles in a rematch of their post-Royal Rumble bout headlined Tuesday night's WWE SmackDown tapings in Portland, Oregon, and thanks to our friends over at WrestlingInc.com, we have all the spoilers for you.

With a large portion of the roster headed overseas for a tour of Germany, Jericho and Styles were leaned on heavily to carry the show, but they were hardly the only Superstars on hand for the show.

The Dudley Boyz explained their actions from Monday's Raw, The Wyatt Family cut another menacing promo, and The Social Outcasts made their presence felt.

With WWE still reeling following the emotional and heartfelt retirement of Daniel Bryan, how would it follow up just 24 hours later?

Let's take a look.

Results

  • Jericho cut a promo about his match with Styles.
  • Jericho vs. Styles ended in a no-contest when The Social Outcasts interrupted. This led to a tag team match.
  • Jericho and Styles defeated Curtis Axel and Adam Rose. After the match, Y2J left Styles lying with the Codebreaker.
  • The Dudley Boyz cut a heel promo explaining why they attacked The Usos on Raw. They used Bryan's retirement to generate heat then said they were doing away with tables.
  • Goldust tried again to recruit R-Truth in a pre-taped vignette.
  • Sasha Banks defeated Naomi with the Bank Statement. Becky Lynch and Tamina fought at ringside.
  • Styles cut a promo on Jericho.
  • The Wyatt Family cut a promo.
  • Neville, Sin Cara and United States champion Kalisto defeated Stardust and The Ascension.
  • Jericho defeated Styles clean with the Codebreaker.

Analysis

With the roster depleted as a result of the Germany tour, utilizing Jericho and Styles as much as WWE Creative did is a very solid idea. What may not be is beating Styles so early in his run, though the loss comes at the hands of Jericho, who is a respected veteran and future Hall of Famer, so it is not so bad.

Outside of those two Superstars, though, the lack of star power on Tuesday's broadcast is somewhat concerning. How WWE thinks it can convince fans to tune into SmackDown when there are only four matches slated for a two-hour show is a mystery, especially given the fact that the talent involved consists of Rose, Axel, Stardust and The Ascension.

Hardly the inspiring crop of talent.

Still, the entire show has been built on the back of the Jericho-Styles match, so if that one delivers and gives fans the quality match we all expect it to be, the overall show should be a success.

If it disappoints in the slightest, though, Thursday's broadcast has the opportunity to be among the worst in a very long time.
