Rose Comments on Injury
Wednesday, Feb. 24
The Bulls deemed Rose's injury right hamstring tendinitis, and Cody Westerlund of CBSChicago.com passed along a quote from the point guard: "Just trying not to risk all of it."
Vincent Goodwill of CSN Chicago shared another quote from Rose: "I'm in a good place mentally, I love the way I've been playing. I just don't want to push it."
Rose's Lengthy Injury History Has Sapped PG's Potential
While this injury wasn't particularly serious, the overarching storyline of Rose’s career takes on a “what-could-have-been” angle because of so many physical setbacks. He was one of the most exciting young playmakers in the league before injuries sapped much of his explosiveness.
Rose dealt with nagging injuries earlier in the season, including hamstring and back concerns and general soreness that forced him to miss time. He also missed the entire 2012-13 season and only played 10 games in 2013-14 because of knee injuries.
Rose is a three-time All-Star and won the 2008-09 Rookie of the Year and 2010-11 MVP, but he tore his ACL in the 2012 playoffs and has dealt with physical concerns ever since. The Bulls had a competitive window with a championship-caliber roster for a handful of years following his MVP campaign, but they continued to fall short without a fully healthy Rose leading the way.
Rose played 51 games last season and averaged 17.7 points and 4.9 assists per night. Thus far, he is posting 16.5 points and 4.8 assists in 48 games in 2015-16.
