Chelsea Transfer News: Latest on Radamel Falcao, Jackson Martinez, Fresh Rumours
The latest reports have claimed Radamel Falcao would have completed a deadline-day move back to Atletico Madrid had Jackson Martinez not seen a transfer to the Chinese Super League fall through at the last hurdle. Also, Chelsea legend Frank Lampard is attempting to lure John Terry to Major League Soccer.
According to the BBC, Martinez's representatives were unable to secure their client a move away from the Vicente Calderon, meaning Falcao—currently on loan at Chelsea from Monaco—was forced to stay in west London (h/t Goal).

Falcao has been an outcast during his loan spell at Stamford Bridge, struggling for fitness and failing to have an impact at the club, as was the case during his season-long stay at Manchester United last term.
However, a move to China could still be made possible for the Colombia international after the Telegraph's Matt Law confirmed their transfer window doesn't close until February 26:
The former Porto and Atleti hitman hasn't posed the same threat in front of goal since tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee at the start of 2014, scoring once in 11 games for Chelsea this season.
Falcao's Blues prospects seem all the dimmer when considering the club have just added Alexandre Pato to their ranks on loan from Corinthians, serving as competition for Diego Costa and Loic Remy. The Daily Mail's Laurie Whitwell confirmed Guus Hiddink's side are "willing to lose" Falcao:
According to Dominic Fifield of the Guardian, Falcao is "keen" on a move to China, and Monaco are happy for the South American to join another outfit on loan, with Jiangsu Suning mentioned as the most likely suitors.
Jiangsu Suning just signed Brazil midfielder Ramires from the west London outfit for an initial outlay of £20 million, and it seems the club are hopeful of adding another Chelsea alumnus to their ranks before the window closes.
In defence, New York City FC midfielder Lampard is reportedly doing what he can to convince former Stamford Bridge team-mate Terry to join him in the United States.
BBC Sport confirmed on Monday Chelsea's intention to cut ties with the 35-year-old at the end of this season, after which Lampard took to his official Instagram to celebrate their time at Stamford Bridge together:
The Daily Star's Robin Cottle interpreted this a sign Lampard wants to see Terry in the Big Apple, and he provided quotes from a source close to the player, who allegedly said: “Frank would love John to join him at New York FC. He plans to sell him on what a brilliant city it is and convince him to end his career with world-renowned stars.”
The end of his Stamford Bridge tenure won't mean the end of Terry's career after BBC Sport's report quoted the centre-back, who said he'll play on beyond this season: "It will be elsewhere for sure. I couldn't play for another Premier League club. It's not going to be a fairytale ending. I'm not going to retire at Chelsea, which it took me a couple of days to get over."

New York City FC already have the maximum three designated players in the form of Lampard, David Villa and Andrea Pirlo, meaning the club could then have to release one in order to see Terry arrive.
It helps the MLS club's case that Terry would be available as a free transfer, and ESPN FC's Doug McIntyre reported last year that a rule change from the league could allow clubs to sign more "high-earning" players.
