Real Madrid Transfer News: Latest Robert Lewandowski, Andrija Zivkovic Rumours

Gianni VerschuerenJan 25, 2016

Real Madrid's bid to land Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski is expected to be the big story of the summer transfer window, but Los Blancos are reportedly already looking at alternatives, as an offer for Partizan Belgrade ace Andrija Zivkovic has been confirmed.

As reported by the Scottish Sun's Antony Kastrinakis, Bayern have no intention whatsoever of selling Lewandowski, but rumours that the Poland international may seek a move to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu continue to swirl.

Lewandowski is still under contract with the Bavarians, giving the team tons of leverage, but club legend Franz Beckenbauer has already confirmed Los Blancos have a strong interest in the forward, per the Daily Telegraph.

Real face a transfer ban, but like Barcelona did, they're expected to appeal in an attempt to move the ban past the summer, per Ed Malyon of the Daily Mirror. And if they're successful, Los Blancos will likely go on a huge spending spree, knowing full well they won't be able to sign additional players once the summer transfer window closes.

Bayern don't have a reputation as a selling club, but the expected battle with Real will be a fierce one, nonetheless. Lewandowski's agent has already been spotted at the Bernabeu, and the player recently said “Who could say no to Real Madrid?” during an interview for Polish television, per Kastrinakis.

ESPN FC's Raphael Honigstein doesn't believe he'll leave the club, however:

The entire saga will likely depend on the legal process surrounding Real's transfer ban―if the club can't push it beyond the summer, there won't be any move for Lewandowski, who is not expected to leave the Bundesliga for any other club.

The 27-year-old is enjoying another fine season for the Bavarians and has been in excellent form of late, per WhoScored.com:

Blessed with power, incredible vision and deadly instincts, he's widely regarded as one of the best pure strikers in the world, rivalled only by Barcelona's Luis Suarez. Los Blancos field a fantastic striker of their own in Karim Benzema, but the France international is just a class below Lewandowski, who truly is the complete package.

Here's a look at some of his highlights:

As stated before, Bayern are not a selling club, and with Lewandowski's contract not containing a release clause, there's no reason for the Bavarians even to entertain thoughts of a sale. But clubs like Real Madrid tend to get what they want, and if Lewandowski wants to play for Los Blancos, he'll choose to complete the move soon―now he's in his prime.

This story seems set to dominate the summer transfer window, and while Lewandowski is expected to stay with the Bavarians, the rumour mill won't be going quiet.

Los Blancos are looking toward Serbia for even more attacking help, as the father of Partizan Belgrade striker Zivkovic has confirmed he turned down an £11 million offer from the club over fears his son would be sent on loan.

As reported by the Daily Express' Uche Amako, he said:

"

One of the biggest clubs in the world, the most famous club in the world, Real Madrid offered me €15 million to sign the player. But to send him on loan! I refused.

I will not destroy the career of the child because of money.

Nobody wants to destroy the life of a child and play with him as he pleases, as if he’s a toy.

"

The 19-year-old became the youngest player in Serbia's history to debut for the national team in 2013 and has continued his development since then, having already scored 12 goals this season, per Amako.

Zivkovic can play both as a winger and a striker, although his blistering pace and ability to change direction seem best suited out wide. The speedy teenager is a natural finisher in front of goal and moves well within space, and in many ways, he's reminiscent of Juventus striker Paulo Dybala.

Here's a look at some of his highlights:

Real have made a habit of signing young talent and sending those players on loan in the past few years, with the likes of Marco Asensio and Jesus Vallejo impressing for other Spanish clubs.

Zivkovic won't be joining that group, however, which is likely the best decision for his career. He's playing regular football in an environment he knows, which can only help his development. If he continues to grow as a player, top clubs will keep calling and offer him bigger roles before long.
