NFL Playoff Standings 2016: Post-Divisional Round Rankings and Super Bowl Odds
After another wild NFL postseason weekend, the list of Super Bowl 50 contenders has been whittled down to four.
All the wild-card teams pulled off road victories in their first games, but none could survive a second road test in the divisional round. The top two seeds in each conference will battle for a spot the Super Bowl.
The Green Bay Packers did their best to buck the trend Saturday with a thrilling, game-tying Hail Mary pass from quarterback Aaron Rodgers on the final play of regulation, only to see the game slip away as wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and the Arizona Cardinals pulled out a victory in overtime.

Game to Watch: Panthers, Cardinals Looking for First Super Bowl Win
Carolina and Arizona were clearly the two best teams in the NFC this season. They finished with not only the top two records, but also sported the top two scoring offenses and finished Nos. 1 and 2 in point differential.
The only knock on both teams was the fact they have not performed well recently in the playoffs. The Panthers, who entered the NFL in 1995, came in as losers in four of their past five playoff games, including three in a row in the divisional round.
Arizona, despite winning 21 games the past two years prior to this season, had nothing but a wild-card loss to show for itself during that time.
Even though Carolina was the top seed at home playing the No. 6 seed, there were plenty who thought the Panthers were primed for a loss, including Scott Zolak of The Patriots Radio Network and Rob Rang of CBSSports.com:
Instead, quarterback Cam Newton and Carolina jumped out to a 31-0 halftime lead and hung on for a 31-24 win. While Zolak never addressed his incorrect prediction, Rang at least gave the Panthers their due:
Carolina hit back at one of its detractors, Rainn Wilson, who played Dwight Schrute in the hit show The Office and predicted an "inevitable Seahawks/Pats Super Bowl":
In the other NFC Divisional Round matchup, the Cardinals, who beat Green Bay 38-8 in the regular season, were still considered the favorite by most. However, Aaron Rodgers' impressive performance against Washington the week before had many believing he would go into Glendale, Arizona, and lead his team to victory.
And boy, did he almost do just that, per the NFL:
However, Fitzgerald had 81 receiving yards in overtime and the game-winning touchdown catch to keep Arizona's championship hopes alive.
Now one of the two best NFC teams all season will represent its conference for a chance to win its first Super Bowl. Each lost in its only appearance (Carolina in 2003 and Arizona in 2008) and will go down in team history if it can win just two more games.
The only question remains now is: Which team will win?
Carolina is an early favorite at minus-four, according to Odds Shark, which no doubt has to do with how it handled the defending NFC champion Seahawks on Sunday. However, the NFL is week-to-week, and earlier performances guarantee nothing.
Former NFL head coach Tony Dungy, who tweeted earlier that Arizona is the team to beat, stayed neutral in his assessment of the matchup after Sunday's games:
He's right in the fact it should be a good game considering the two teams match up evenly.
| Panthers | 31.3 | 19.3 | 370.5 | 322.9 |
| Cardinals | 30.6 | 19.6 | 408.3 | 321.7 |
The Panthers seem to be clicking on all cylinders, while Arizona has struggled the past two games with a 36-6 loss to Seattle and the slim victory over Green Bay.
Newton and Co. are now 9-0 at home this year, including the playoffs, and that will be the X-factor in deciding this game.
Prediction: Carolina wins, 28-24.
