He will be eager to impress his new boss early on at City, having been largely overlooked by Guardiola when playing under him at Barcelona, per Spanish football writer Dermot Corrigan:
The Spain international was one of the top breakout performers of the 2014-15 Primera Division campaign and continued his remarkable form last season, booking a spot in Spain's UEFA Euro 2016 squad in the process.

The winger was widely linked with a return to former club Barcelona in January, but once the winter transfer window closed and he hadn't completed his move, serious doubts were cast whether he ever would, per ESPN FC's Lee Roden.

Nolito is a superb scorer and playmaker from a wide position, using his dribbling ability and raw pace to take on markers and create space for others.
Spanish football expert Guillem Balague believes he has plenty to offer the Manchester outfit but expressed some concerns over how Nolito will handle the physicality of the Premier League:
While Nolito doesn't have the long-term potential of Raheem Sterling, he should be a more productive option on the left wing in the immediate future, and for a relatively small investment, he should provide plenty of return in the next few years.
Even if he can't beat Sterling to the starting spot, his scoring output and versatility in attack should make him a valuable depth option, which is solid value for the money City are spending. There are few risks involved with this deal, and the potential rewards are huge.
