Rondo Continues to Deal with Injuries
This was another physical setback for Rondo, who is no stranger to injuries. He tore his ACL, broke his hand and suffered facial fractures in the past and dealt with back issues earlier this season.
Rondo is a four-time All-Star who won a championship ring with the Boston Celtics in 2007-08 and is the best ball-handler on the Kings roster this season.
While he had well-documented issues with the Dallas Mavericks last season and clashed with head coach Rick Carlisle on a number of occasions, he is a playmaker in the open court and consistently ranks among the NBA’s assist leaders. Rondo is averaging 11.9 points, 12.0 assists and 6.3 rebounds per game this year and had four different seasons with double-digit assist averages coming into the 2015-16 campaign.
He isn’t much of a shooter, but he can attack the rim with explosive quickness in half-court sets and force defenders to collapse on his penetration, which opens up teammates on the perimeter. He is also an impressive defender and was named to four different NBA All-Defensive Teams in his career.
