Maguire Returns After Being Taken Off on Cart
Thursday, Dec. 31
According to Edward Aschoff of ESPN, Maguire is unable to any pressure on his left leg with trainers carrying him to the cart. Brian T. Smith of the Houston Chronicle noted Maguire's return to the field.
Maguire suffered the injury as Florida State was closing in on Houston's end zone. He was scrambling out of the pocket, moved to his right, took a hard hit before releasing the ball and was unable to get back on the field.
Quarterback Position Remains Problem for Seminoles
Quarterback has been a problem for the Seminoles this season. Everett Golson began the year as Florida State's starter but was replaced by Maguire prior to the Oct. 31 game against Syracuse.
Golson didn't travel with the team to Atlanta for the Peach Bowl for personal reasons, according to a school spokesperson (per Brendan Sonnone of the Orlando Sentinel).
The Seminoles were able to win 10 games this season despite the problems at quarterback, so head coach Jimbo Fisher has a lot of talent to work with. Maguire's absence would have been a crushing blow to end the year.
