Best Booking Options for Brock Lesnar Leading Up to WWE 2016 Royal Rumble

It was only a matter of time before Brock Lesnar, The Beast Incarnate, made his return.

Lesnar surprisingly returned to WWE at a non-televised event on Saturday at The Great Western Forum, where he took on Alberto Del Rio for the United States title. Lesnar won by disqualification thanks to Rusev saving Del Rio. It wasn’t enough, as Lesnar gave multiple German suplexes and an F-5 to each member of the League of Nations.

Lesnar’s shocking return meant one thing: The Beast is preparing for a reappearance. He couldn’t have picked a better time. After all, it’s Royal Rumble season.

The Royal Rumble begins the road to WrestleMania. This past WrestleMania saw Lesnar defend his WWE title against Roman Reigns. Seth Rollins intervened and used his Money in the Bank briefcase to insert himself in the match and then pinned Reigns to become the new champion. Rollins defeated Lesnar without pinning the defending champion.

That must burn Lesnar and his advocate, Paul Heyman. To make matters worse, Lesnar’s last shot at Battleground against Rollins was interrupted by The Undertaker.

After going to war with The Undertaker, Lesnar rested, waiting for his time to rise once more. That moment has arrived.

The question must be asked. Where does Lesnar go from here? More importantly, how does he fit into the WWE Royal Rumble picture?

It appears Lesnar will vie against the League of Nations for the time being. That’s a good setup; Del Rio, Rusev, King Barrett and Sheamus are all tough competitors who can take as much punishment as they can dish out.

However, let’s discuss how Lesnar gets there on TV. WWE Creative has utilized his dates effectively, making him a force of nature instead of just another WWE Superstar. Consider him WWE’s Godzilla—The Beast Incarnate roaming the ring that he knows is his.

Lesnar wants that fair shot at the WWE title. He might not get that, considering the turmoil that champion Reigns is experiencing with The Authority.

Lesnar’s best bet is to enter the Royal Rumble on January 24. He last entered the match in 2003, where he eliminated The Undertaker to win. That Lesnar was nowhere near as deadly and powerful as the Lesnar of today.

Picture him manhandling WWE Superstars like rag dolls. Frankly, that’s worth the price of admission.

It makes sense then for Lesnar to feud with the League of Nations if WWE Creative uses his dates frequently in 2016. Granted, Heyman wouldn’t have a challenge on the microphone. But he can elevate the stable into greater heights by hyping it up.

This would make the confrontation all the more important. Can you imagine Lesnar taking on three of the toughest guys in WWE all by himself? His legend and prestigious status would only advance further.

However, the best option is to turn Lesnar into The Beast. Make him seem like the boogeyman by keeping his appearances scarce. He shouldn’t show up on every Raw episode leading up to the Royal Rumble. Sporadic sightings make Lesnar more of an attraction than having him showing up every night. He does need to make his presence felt on more than just one show, though.

The best bet is for Lesnar to appear as a force of nature. He should do what he does best: destroy everything in his path, leave abruptly and then return when we least expect it. Building up Lesnar as a force for the Royal Rumble makes it event-worthy. Whether he wins or not doesn’t matter in this context.

If Lesnar is built up the right way, then the Royal Rumble just got a lot more interesting.
