International Boxing Hall of Fame Announces 2016 Class: Inductees and Reaction
Hector Camacho, Lupe Pintor, Hilario Zapata, judge Harold Lederman, commissioner Marc Ratner, journalist Jerry Izenberg and broadcaster Col. Bob Sheridan headline the 2016 International Boxing Hall of Fame class that was announced on Wednesday.
The IBHOF website listed all of the inductees, along with a brief statement from the Hall of Fame's executive director Edward Brophy.
"We’re extremely excited about the Class of 2016 and are very much looking forward to paying tribute to the new inductees in Canastota next June." Brophy said.

Camacho, who died in 2012 at the age of 50 after being shot while sitting in a parked car, is the headliner for the 2016 Hall of Fame class. The Puerto Rican had a 79-6-3 career record over 30 years and won championships in three different weight classes.
During his high point in boxing, during the mid-90s, Camacho defeated Roberto Duran to win the IBC middleweight championship and knocked out Sugar Ray Leonard in what would be the last fight of Leonard's storied career in 1997.
Zapata's last fight was in 1993. The 57-year-old had a stellar 43-10-1 mark and had a slow ascent to the top, not winning his first major title until 1980 by defeating Shigeo Nakajima for the WBC world light flyweight championship.
Pintor was a tremendous puncher, winning 42 of his 56 career wins by knockout. He held the WBC bantamweight title for three years from 1979-82 and had a 21-fight winning streak from March 1976-March 1978 that included 18 wins by knockout or TKO.
Next year's induction ceremony will take place on June 12 in Canastota, New York, with a full weekend of activities and events leading up to main show.
