Dakota Prukop to Oregon: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction
Montana State graduate transfer Dakota Prukop told Fox Sports' Bruce Feldman on Tuesday he chose to play his senior season with the Oregon Ducks. While he "loved" Alabama, he "felt a great connection" with the Ducks, per Feldman.
"You can tell that Oregon wants to win. The guys on that team, they get it," Prukop said, per Feldman. "Oregon’s arms were wide-open. They have an outstanding cast of really competitive guys and even better dudes. I developed a great rapport with coach (Mark) Helfrich and coach (Matt) Lubick very quickly.”
Prukop threw for 3,025 yards, 28 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, completing 62.8 percent of his passes, and also rushed for 797 yards and another 11 scores in 2015. He's graduating this month, clearing him to transfer to the FBS level and play immediately.
He'll be expected to take over the starting gig and would be the second FCS transfer to start in as many years for the Ducks after Vernon Adams Jr. took a similar route from Eastern Washington and became the team's starter. Like Adams, Prukop is a dual-threat quarterback who seems to perfectly fit in Oregon's high-octane spread system.
