Peppers Suffering From Unspecified Injury
Saturday, Dec. 12
According to MLive.com's Nick Baumgardner on Saturday, Peppers is "working through something," but Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has not described the extent of the injury.
When Harbaugh was asked if Peppers will be ready to go for the Citrus Bowl, he said "we'll see," per Baumgardner.
According to the Michigan Daily's Zach Shaw, Peppers was seen on campus with his hand in a cast on Dec. 6. He did not attend the team's annual banquet the following night, per Baumgardner.
Peppers, one of Michigan's most versatile players, was named the Big 10 freshman of the year and on Sports Illustrated's All-American second team after recording 45 tackles and 10 pass breakups while playing safety, cornerback and nickel.
He played on the offensive side of the ball this season as well, rushing for 72 yards while hauling in eight receptions for an additional 79. Not to mention he returns punts and kicks.
Peppers' play this year has received high praise from Harbaugh, as he spoke with the Chicago Tribune's Teddy Greenstein: "I can think of five different positions he could be really good at. Can somebody be the Willie Mays of football … the five-tool player, five-position player? Maybe that'll end up being Jabrill Peppers."
With big-time speed and the physicality to compete with even the toughest of players, Peppers has all the facets needed to excel on any side of the ball. Which is why his presence would be sorely missed in the Citrus Bowl if he was unable to go.
