Heisman Trophy Ceremony 2015: TV Info, Updated Predictions for Coveted Award
The 2015 Heisman Trophy will be handed out on Saturday night, with Alabama running back Derrick Henry, Stanford running back Christian McCaffrey and Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson vying for the prestigious award.
And while there hasn't been a clear-cut Heisman favorite for much of the season, one has emerged thanks to an outstanding late-season display. Henry trounced his SEC competition down the stretch—most notably against Auburn in the Iron Bowl and Florida in the SEC Championship Game—and has started to reap the rewards in recent days.
Not only did Henry win the Doak Walker Award, handed out to the nation's top running back, but he secured the Maxwell Award given to the nation's best college football player. Now all that's left is the Heisman.

At present, the inclination is to lean strongly toward Henry. According to Odds Shark, Henry was listed as a -500 favorite Friday with McCaffrey trailing in second place at +325. Watson, on the other hand, was a distant third at +1200.
So why is Henry the favorite by such a large margin? Ultimately, it comes down to a rare blend of quality and quantity.
"I’m trying to run through you," Henry said, relayed by Bleacher Report's Adam Kramer. "I’m trying to make you feel everything that I’m bringing. That’s the mentality you have to have as a running back. The defense is trying to knock the mess out of you, and I’m trying to do the same."
Embracing that mantra, the Crimson Tide tailback topped the FBS charts in carries (339) and rushing touchdowns (23) while breaking Herschel Walker's single-season SEC rushing record with 1,986 yards. Henry also finished the season by rushing for at least 200 yards in three of his last five games.
"More impressive than the statistics was the way in which Henry ran," Bleacher Report's College Football Staff wrote. "His bruising style punished defenses late in games, as Alabama was content to hand the ball off to No. 2 and let him wear out opposing defenses."
In other words, none of the stats were empty. Rather, they were earned thanks to Henry's tireless work ethic.
McCaffrey and Watson both shouldered tremendous workloads for their respective teams, but Henry single-handedly kept Alabama's offense rolling week after week to help stabilize a sometimes shaky Crimson Tide attack.
The good news for Watson and McCaffrey is they're both sophomores who will enter the 2016 season as Heisman favorites. And based on their production this past season, McCaffrey and Watson could shatter record books once more en route to a place on the Heisman stage next year.
But for now, it's Henry's trophy to lose.
Prediction: 1. Derrick Henry, 2. Christian McCaffrey and 3. Deshaun Watson.
