Williams Discloses Severity of Injury
Thursday, Dec. 10
"Williams said that the possibility of not playing again became real enough where he considered what he’d do next in his career," reported Mike Rodak of ESPN.
Latest on Williams' Practice Status
Thursday, Dec. 10
According to Rodak, Williams was cleared to practice and appeared out on the field with his teammates on Thursday.
That came as a surprise, as earlier in the week, Ryan put Williams' chances of returning at all this season at about 50 percent and noted that he wouldn't play this week.
Ryan said, per Chris Brown of the team's website:
"He will continue to condition. He won’t be on the practice field running with pads on or anything. We like where he’s at and hopefully at the end of the year we’ll be able to use him and he’ll be able to play for us. We’re not going to put him out there until we know and our trainers are on top of it.
"
Williams' Return Would Be Vital for Bills' Playoff Push
Williams, 25, has appeared in three games this season, notching 15 tackles and an interception. He's established himself as a key contributor for Buffalo's defense in the last two years, recording career highs in tackles (82) and interceptions (four) in 2013.
While his return to practice doesn't indicate he'll play anytime soon, it's an excellent sign for the safety. As the Bills continue to push for a playoff spot, getting Williams back would be a major boon for the team.
