BBC News presenter Clive Myrie swore live on the air as he made clear his disapproval of Tyson Fury's BBC Sports Personality of the Year nomination.

Myrie was appearing on his programme, The Papers, with journalists Christopher Hope and Miranda Green when he looked down at his watch to check the time before stating: "It's after the watershed. You cannot be a d--khead and win Sports Personality of the Year."

Fury was nominated for the annual award after beating Wladimir Klitschko to claim the world heavyweight title on Nov. 29, but an online petition to remove him from the short list has been signed by over 90,000 people after he was reported to have made controversial comments regarding homosexuality and abortion.

A BBC spokesperson later told the Independent: "We apologise to any viewers who were offended by the language Clive Myrie used during a discussion on the late night paper review on the News Channel.”
