Leidner to Have Surgery
Sunday, Dec. 6
According to Andy Greder of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Leidner will have minor foot surgery after the Gophers' season ends. Head coach Tracy Claeys said the signal-caller will be ready for the team's bowl game against the Central Michigan Chippewas on Dec. 28.
Per Greder, Leidner had a protective boot on his left foot after the team's 32-23 win against Illinois on Nov. 21, but he played in the team's regular-season finale against Wisconsin the following week.
Greder added that Leidner had suffered a shoulder injury that week as well.
The junior quarterback passed for 2,478 yards with 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions as Minnesota went 5-7 in the regular season. He has more than three weeks to take it easy before the Gophers take on Central Michigan in the Quick Lane Bowl.
If his injury worsens and he is unable to go, Minnesota might have to turn to freshman Demry Croft, who was second on the team this season with 17 pass attempts.
