Mike Perrin Named Texas Athletic Director: Latest Contract Details and Reaction
The University of Texas is removing Mike Perrin's interim tag. Perrin will sign a two-year deal to become the school's full-time athletic director, Texas President Greg Fenves informed university officials Thursday, per Chuck Carlton of the Dallas Morning News.
Perrin's deal will run through the 2017-18 academic year, per Carlton. A Houston-based attorney, Perrin replaced Steve Patterson in September and has acted as the interim athletic director ever since.
Texas' football program, largely seen as a main reason why Patterson was ousted, is currently 4-7 heading into its regular-season finale against Baylor. However, coach Charlie Strong is in the midst of rebuilding the program via a youth movement, and an October win over Oklahoma helped instill confidence in the program.
