WWE Survivor Series 2015 Matches: Best Finishes for Each Match on the Card

Erik BeastonNov 22, 2015

There is no more important aspect of a match than the finish.

It leaves a lasting impression, good or bad, and is often the most memorable moment of any bout.

The finish can determine the overall success or failure of a given match while simultaneously sparking new rivalries. It can result in the Superstars being more or less over than they were heading into the match, or it can see all momentum killed in an instant.

There is no more important show for World Wrestling Entertainment than Sunday night's Survivor Series.

With injuries to Seth Rollins and Randy Orton and a hiatus taken by John Cena adversely affecting the roster's star power, the company is faced with a situation in which they need to crown the new face of the company going forward.

Thus, the importance of every finish is amplified and magnified.

With a huge tournament to crown a new WWE World Heavyweight champion and The Wyatt Family's latest opportunity to vanquish The Brothers of Destruction, crafting the perfect finish for each bout is key.

But what are those finishes and how will they spring feuds and Superstars forward as we near the conclusion of 2015?

Find out now.

WWE Title Tournament Semifinal Match: Dean Ambose vs. Kevin Owens

1 of 6

The rivalry between Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens is an interesting one because both have the potential to be main event stars but, as of right now, are stuck just a level below in the upper midcard.

Sunday night, they bring their budding rivalry to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Tournament in what may be one of the dark-horse matches to steal the entire show.

WWE has been sure to make it abundantly clear that the plan is for Ambrose to advance to the finals of the tournament and face longtime friend Roman Reigns for the right to hoist the title.

That does not mean predictability has to damn the match to mediocrity. Both performers are great workers who leave everything they have in the ring on a regular basis, and that will be the case on the grand stage that Survivor Series presents them.

Ambrose will win, of course, but Owens will deliver yet another performance that again reminds fans of why he is one of the very best in the entire promotion.

Best Finish

Dean Ambrose escapes the Pop-Up Powerbomb and scores the win with a small package or schoolboy roll-up.

After the match, Owens attacks Ambrose, pummeling him and leaving him lying following multiple powerbombs. This allows the feud between Ambrose and Owens to continue into the future while also creating sympathy for The Lunatic Fringe ahead of the finals.

More importantly, it helps Ambrose save face if, and when, he is defeated in the final round of competition.

WWE Title Tournament Semifinal Match: Roman Reigns vs. Alberto Del Rio

2 of 6

Roman Reigns is the most polarizing star in WWE today.

Some fans love the second-generation Superstar, some hate him, but there is little room for middle ground when debating the juggernaut.

Sunday night, he battles Alberto Del Rio in the most foregone conclusion of a match since the height of Undertaker's legendary undefeated steak at WrestleMania.

Reigns is going to tear through Del Rio, spearing his way to the finals. The United States champion exists solely to serve as a tackling dummy for the unstoppable force that is the Big Dog as he chases his destiny of being the top star in the industry.

The match will be very good, especially given Reigns' level of performance in high-profile situations and Del Rio's quiet consistency.

But make no mistake about it: The outcome is not, and never has been, in doubt.

Best Finish

Del Rio eats a Superman Punch and Spear as Reigns moves on to bigger and better things.

The Undertaker and Kane vs. The Wyatt Family

3 of 6

The Undertaker and Kane have one-upped The Wyatt Family on almost every occasion they have shared the same arena since the inception of this program. They have escaped abduction, thwarted Bray Wyatt's attempts to prove himself as The New Face of Fear and left all four members of the heel faction lying.

So why would anyone care about the outcome of the pay-per-view match when The Brothers of Destruction have already established their dominance?

The answer is simple: The growth and evolution of the Bray Wyatt character.

If Wyatt competes in the match and loses, he is once again left wallowing in mediocrity. But if he selects Erick Rowan, Luke Harper or Braun Strowman to compete, and they suffer defeat, Wyatt can still continue the program with Undertaker and Kane in the coming weeks and months.

But neither of those scenarios are ideal.

Here's one that is.

Best Finish

The Undertaker and Kane square off with Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman.

After the babyfaces neutralize Strowman with a double chokeslam, Wyatt dumps Kane over the rope, counters a Tombstone and scores a clean pin over Undertaker with Sister Abigail.

The finish puts Wyatt over strong as a heel, having both pinned Undertaker and ruined what should have been a momentous night for WWE's greatest icon.

It would also set up one last battle between the two, presumably at TLC in December.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Tyler Breeze (with Summer Rae)

4 of 6

The arrival of Tyler Breeze to the main roster on October 22 brought an end to his status as the cornerstone of NXT. Prince Pretty had long been one of the faces of that brand, one of its most consistent performers during its rise to the top of the industry.

Luckily for him, he was introduced and plugged into a fairly hot program, pitting Dolph Ziggler and Summer Rae against each other.

Now, he makes his pay-per-view debut against one of the most popular and respected in-ring performers in the industry, and the pressure is on.

To prevent Breeze from becoming an NXT failure, such as Bo Dallas, Adam Rose and The Ascension, he needs a strong performance, and more importantly, he needs a signature win.

That will come Sunday night, but how?

Best Finish

Breeze eludes the Zig Zag from Ziggler and delivers the Beauty Shot for a clean pinfall victory.

WWE Divas Championship Match: Charlotte vs. Paige

5 of 6

The entire dynamic of the rivalry between Paige and Charlotte took a turn Monday night, when WWE opted to put controversy over storytelling, when the name of the late Reid Flair was evoked by both babyface and heel.

Now, what was likely to be a hard-fought contest anyway has the potential to erupt into a brutal brawl featuring two women with a track record of delivering quality pay-per-view bouts.

The feud is undoubtedly set to continue into the coming months, so Survivor Series will not be the culmination. Thus, WWE Creative certainly has more options available to them when it comes to booking the finish of Sunday's match.

Best Finish

With so much anger coursing through her veins, Charlotte should do something that results in her disqualification, either by refusing to heed the official's warning or by brawling to the outside and utilizing the steps.

That way, Paige can claim victory, all the while getting her comeuppance from Raw.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match

6 of 6

A Roman Reigns-Dean Ambrose match is incredibly refreshing, if only because it is a match that has not been completely and utterly overdone by WWE Creative to this point. It has not been given away on free television and, thus, is exactly the type of main event to get fans excited about the tournament finals.

If the chemistry that each man had with fellow Shield member Seth Rollins is any indication, fans will be in for a tremendous match if this is, in fact, the direction that WWE heads.

The biggest wild card to take into consideration is the involvement of The Authority and any type of heel turn or swerve that may unfold.

While there seems to be a groundswell of support for some sort of twist to help re-energize the product, executing a turn or swerve for the wrong reasons can further damage an already unstable creative process.

Thus, WWE should stick to whatever story they planned to tell from the get-go.

Best Finish

Roman Reigns gets the best of Dean Ambrose, pinning him to capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Perhaps Sheamus attempts to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase, but regardless, Reigns should leave Atlanta with the title, thus fulfilling the story that the company has told for the last year.

Is it the popular answer? Of course not. But the company needs to pull the proverbial trigger on the title win now or risk "Lex Luger-ing" Reigns with yet another high-profile defeat.
