Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
The Tag Teams
In a bit of a change from the normal setup, we will see two tag team matches this week and no singles bouts featuring the men.
The first contest will see Jason Jordan and Chad Gable battle former NXT tag champ The Ascension. Based on recent events, it's easy to predict who will win this one.
Jordan and Gable have been racking up wins and climbing the ladder toward the titles for quite some time. They have put on some great performances, and they are quickly becoming fan favorites.
The Ascension has been in a rut for a long time. Aligning with Stardust hasn't helped the team at all, and it looks like that storyline may have been abandoned anyway.
If Gable and Jordan can pick up a win over one of the most dominant teams in NXT history, it will help their case when it's time to look for new No. 1 contenders to the Tag Team Championships.
The second tag match of the night will feature the current champions, Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder, taking on two enhancement talents known as Chad Hollis and John Skyler.
There isn't much point in speculating who is going to win this bout. Dawson and Wilder are still riding high from their big title win, and this is an example of the new champions being fed jobbers so they can get an easy win.
The Women
It's a big night for the women's division, as women will be featured in three matches, making this a rare occasion when they have more spots on the card than the men.
The first bout will see newcomer Nia Jax taking on Carmella. Jax is fresh off her debut, and that means she needs this win a lot more than Carmella.
However, Colin Cassady's injury a few weeks ago has put Carmella in a tough spot. She was focused on managing Big Cass and Enzo Amore, but it may be a while before we see the trio back in action.
Not only does Jax have momentum on her side, but she also has a significant size advantage, standing seven inches at 6 feet. WWE should be positioning her as an unstoppable force, and that means she needs every victory she can get before chasing the Women's Championship.
The second bout featuring the Divas of developmental has Emma taking on an unsigned talent by the name of Mary Kate, whom many will recognize as Rosie Lottalove from TNA.
Emma needs this win to get herself out of a slump. She has found little success in recent months, which is a shame, as she is gifted inside the ring.
Teaming with Dana Brooke has done more for Brooke than it has for Emma, and getting some wins on her own could get her back into the hunt for the title.
The third and final women's match of the night is the one everyone will be looking forward to. Bayley will be defending the NXT Women's Championship against her most recent rival, Alexa Bliss.
Bliss barely gave Bayley time to celebrate her win over Sasha Banks at the last TakeOver special before declaring her intentions to pursue the title.
Given enough time, they should steal the show with ease. Everyone knows how good Bayley is between the ropes, and Bliss has started coming into her own as a performer.
Bliss has a lot of great qualities, but it might be too early to put the belt on her. The fact that she is challenging for the belt is a big step in the right direction, and it's possible she will be ready to carry that torch in a few months after an extended feud with everyone's favorite hugger.
If you are a fan of women's wrestling, then this is an episode you do not want to miss. What are you looking forward to on this week's episode of NXT?
