Dean Ambrose Is WWE's Perfect Opposition for The Authority
Dean Ambrose may be the popular choice among many fans to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Survivor Series, but he may not be the company's choice.
He has been on the midcard for the bulk of his singles career, and there has been no real move to elevate him to a more permanent main event spot.
But if there was ever a moment for WWE to truly stop and think about its next move in regards to the top title, this is it. Ambrose is the absolute best opposition for Triple H's Authority.

To be a babyface champion in WWE means being in direct conflict with The Authority. Roman Reigns discovered this, as he was the first man The Game approached on TV concerning the vacant championship. Hunter was looking for someone to take the injured Seth Rollins' spot, and he believed Reigns was that man.
All Reigns had to do was make a deal with the devil and collect his reward.

But the former Shield strongman refused the offer, and that reward is still up for grabs. Triple H continued to approach other Superstars in regards to taking Rollins' place by his side, but of the four men still in the hunt for the belt, one is just not a viable option for him.
Ambrose is the wild card and always has been. However, the truth is he's so good and so entertaining in the ring that with any other gimmick, he could very well be considered an obvious choice to carry the gold for Triple H.
Living as The Lunatic Fringe has all but stopped that from happening because he is the last man The Game would want on his team.
Ambrose is too unpredictable, reckless and rebellious. He always does the unexpected and no one really knows his motives until he speaks. When he speaks, he always leaves everyone guessing. Ambrose never really seems to have a method to his madness—he just acts because he wants to.
He is the complete opposite of his former partner Rollins in that regard.
Rollins is cold, calculating, always operating with planned precision and evil intentions. He's cocky and overbearing. He cares about himself and no one else. He depended on The Authority's support in so many instances, and when he did manage to win on his own, he never let anyone forget it.
He was the face of WWE in Triple H's eyes and the perfect young star to take that spot.
Hunter was able to work with Rollins, to give him what he wanted while constantly cultivating his protege and forming him in his own image. The Authority controlled the championship and the man wearing it.
This is the kind of guy Triple H wants again, but Ambrose is not that guy.
Ambrose would be The Authority's worst nightmare as WWE world heavyweight champion. Randy Orton and Rollins represented the two best choices for Triple H to cooperate with and keep under his thumb. Each man was willing to give up control for the gold, and Hunter knew that.
But Ambrose cannot be controlled, formed and will not sell out.
Ambrose has no agenda, and that makes him a threat. He has no sense of self-preservation, and that makes him dangerous. Even if he were to turn heel and join The Authority, it would not last very long because he is not willing to play the game.
He does what he wants when he wants, and that does not make him a good fit for The Authority.
The fact is he should be considered its biggest enemy, the man it is the most worried about. Ambrose is a danger to it and everything it represents. Ambrose is his own man, and a star like that cannot be trusted to ever go along with the program.
But he's made plenty of friends among the fans.
Fans want to see him succeed. In the usual debate of which midcard star should be elevated, Ambrose is almost always the topic of conversation. It's not just because of his work ethic—it's because of who his character is.
Ambrose is fun, and seeing him hoist the belt above his head as the new WWE world heavyweight champion would be perhaps the most fun fans have had in quite a while.
He would be a breath of fresh air as champ, with a new set of storylines and angles that Rollins did not have. Where Rollins was predictable, Ambrose would not be. Where Rollins was weak as a heel, Ambrose would be strong as a babyface.
He would be everything that Rollins was not in terms of character and would be the biggest thorn in The Authority's side since Sting. But unlike Sting, Ambrose is full-time and not so easily tossed aside. He would always take the fight to Triple H and company and would never back down.
John Cena faced off against The Authority and no new ground was broken. Daniel Bryan took it on but could not take it down.
Ambrose would take a beating but keep on coming. He would never give in and would make it his mission to cause The Authority as much grief as possible.
WWE needs a strong babyface to stand up to its top heels, and The Authority remains the top heel entity in the company. Without unyielding opposition, The Authority is less effective and wasting space on TV. This would never be an issue if Ambrose was standing up to it. In turn, it would help elevate him and both sides would win in the end.
Rollins may have been the perfect champ, but Ambrose is the perfect threat. With any luck, WWE will see it that way as well.
