WWE Programming's Best Matches for Week of November 7
Last week, Bleacher Report readers voted the NXT Championship match between Finn Balor and Apollo Crews as the best match of the week.
Interestingly, that bout didn't even need a clear-cut conclusion to stand head and shoulders above the rest of the week's offerings. Non-finishes tend to draw criticism from fans, but that match demonstrated they can be used effectively.
It's clear fans want to see more of Balor vs. Crews—and there should be little doubt we'll see them square off again. It's a simple matter of when they meet and whether it's in an NXT ring or a WWE one.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Contender No. 1: Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch on Main Event
The biggest failure of the Diva's Revolution so far has to be the lack of spotlight on Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch.
While Charlotte has been presented as the new figurehead of the division, Banks and Lynch have largely been relegated to the background. Not everyone can be given their moment in the sun at once, but you would think more would be done to highlight two top prospects.
This week's excellent edition of Main Event demonstrated the pair don't need much help to stand out from the crowd. Given enough time in the ring, they're both quite capable of demonstrating just why they deserve more attention.
The match was a predictably technical affair, with each woman seemingly having an answer for much of her opponent's offence. The match had a great flow but still managed to showcase the abilities of both competitors throughout.
The ever-creative Lynch always seems to have an interesting counter to hand or a new setup for the Disarmer up her sleeve. Meanwhile, Banks seems capable of making the most challenging manoeuvres look as natural and smooth as a simple arm drag.
WWE could solve a lot of problems with the Diva's Revolution with matches like this. The narrative being woven might need some work too, but great bouts such as this could cover for a host of smaller issues.
Contender No. 2: Ryback vs. Kalisto on SmackDown
This match is a great example of what makes tournaments so much fun: standout matches that come from absolutely nowhere.
There would have been little reason for Kalisto and Ryback to ever go one-on-one in normal circumstances, but the WWE World Heavyweight Championship bracket set up this interesting encounter. Perhaps surprisingly, the pair showed some great chemistry.
Thanks to his unusual lucha-based moveset, Kalisto works well with bigger opponents, with his in-ring encounters with Cesaro often drawing praise. However, the Swiss Superman is rather a different proposition to the Big Guy in terms of match quality.
Ryback can be credited with constantly trying to up his game—and that effort shines through in performances such as this. Moreover, he's able to look even more dominating against a smaller opponent, with his repeated powerbombs to Kalisto looking particularly impressive.
"For the record, our pick is Kalisto. Called it. #SurvivorSeries
— PROGRESS Wrestling (@ThisIs_Progress) November 10, 2015"
Meanwhile, the man who's become known as one half of the Lucha Dragons remains among the crispest performers on the roster. Given his style lends itself to rather complex techniques, that's no small accomplishment.
It's great to see Kalisto progress in the tournament, and this bout started his Cinderella story the right way. The quarter-finals look set to produce four great matches, but Kalisto might just be the one to watch as this bracket progresses.
Contender No. 3: The Mechanics vs. The Vaudevillains on NXT
Once again, NXT demonstrated how to do a television title match right.
After last week's gripping NXT Championship match between Balor and Crews, the promotion's main event this time around saw the tag titles being defended—and what a terrific bout it was.

The Vaudevillains were little more than a comedy tag team when they first debuted as a duo in June 2014. Since that time, they've grown exponentially as performers, with their strong character work being augmented by real strength as a unit.
However, this bout was all about the Mechanics. Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson have long been a presence in NXT, but it's only in recent months we've seen what the pair can actually do between the ropes. It's very difficult not to be impressed with these two throwbacks.

Even this title win came via a rather unusual victory for a modern pro wrestling broadcast; both men strategized to take out Aiden English's knee and then made the most of that plan with a submission hold. That's no-nonsense, old-school work.
Dash and Dawson look set to have a compelling run as champions, if for no other reason than the fact they can seemingly produce great work with just about anybody. They've spent plenty of time working their way up the ranks, so it'll be very interesting to see what they do at the top of the pile.
