ESPN's Brett McMurphy reported Liufau's season is over.
Liufau left in the first quarter and later returned to the sideline on crutches, as RalphieReport showed:
He suffered the injury when USC defensive tackle Kenny Bigelow Jr. sacked him on the final play of the first quarter. To that point, Liufau was 6-of-8 for 94 yards.
Liufau's Injury Impact on Colorado's Offense
The junior entered Week 11 averaging 232.4 yards per game, good for sixth in the Pac-12, with nine passing touchdowns and five rushing scores. His career 63.3 completion percentage is the best in school history.
Backup Cade Apsay, a redshirt freshman, took over in remarkable fashion, per Raul Martinez of Fox 31 Denver:
The Buffaloes have high hopes for the redshirt freshman out of California, whom 247Sports ranked as the third-best pro-style quarterback in the 2014 class.
Apsay is part of the team's long-term plans at the position and showed Friday that he can carry the load in Liufau's absence.
